October 22 – 26, 2014 | Calella/Barcelona, Spain Due to the great enthusiasm among the choral scene regarding the new festival Canta al mar 2012 INTERKULTUR will ensure that Calella will become the meeting place for choirs from all over the world on a yearly basis. Thus also in 2014 from Oct. 22 to 26. In general applies that the fantastic metropolis Barcelona will be an attractive part of this festival. Either as venue for the competition and friendship concerts or simply as destination for a day trip. 3.5 kilometres of sandy beach as well as its location directly at the Mediterranean Sea and close to Barcelona make Calella a popular European travel destination. During the choir festival numerous friendship concerts will take place in the contemplative old town with its Catalan flair. All concert and competition venues as well as accommodations and other event locations in Calella are situated within walking distance. Thus attending concerts and other events can be combined perfectly with a placid stroll through the historic old town. Here choirs will meet, celebrate and sing together and get to know other nations and their traditions. Mixed, male, female, children’s and youth choirs can participate in the competition in established categories and different levels of difficulty. Special attention is given to the categories “Folklore“ and “Pop“. No category will require compulsory pieces so that all participating choirs can choose an appropriate repertoire and perform in front of the jury without major restrictions. Nació en Pineda de Mar (Barcelona), donde<br />

a los 8 años inició sus estudios music<strong>al</strong>es. En<br />

2002 se graduó en canto en el Conservatorio<br />

Superior de Música del Liceo de Barcelona,<br />

recibiendo posteriormente una Mención de<br />

Honor.<br />

Amplió su formación voc<strong>al</strong> en clases magistr<strong>al</strong>es<br />

impartidas, entre otros, por Montserrat<br />

Cab<strong>al</strong>lé. Ha re<strong>al</strong>izado recit<strong>al</strong>es líricos, óperas<br />

y zarzuelas en diversos auditorios y teatros<br />

nacion<strong>al</strong>es e internacion<strong>al</strong>es. También ha interpretado<br />

los princip<strong>al</strong>es roles de tenor en<br />

óperas (como Tosca, Madama Butterfly, La<br />

Bohème...) y zarzuelas.<br />

Ha obtenido diversos premios de canto.<br />

Otra actuación destacada fue la interpretación<br />

del rol de Alfredo de La Traviata de Verdi<br />

en el Gran Teatro de la Habana en 2007.<br />

Estudió dirección cor<strong>al</strong> con Manuel Cabero.<br />

Ha dirigido diversos cor<strong>al</strong>s y orquestas.<br />

Es director y fundador del Cor Harmonia C<strong>al</strong>ellenc<br />

y Orquesta de Cá<strong>mar</strong>a Harmonía.<br />

Director del Centro Music<strong>al</strong> Can S<strong>al</strong>om.<br />

Director Artísitco de la Temporada Lírica Ciutat<br />

de C<strong>al</strong>ella.<br />

Albert Deprius was born in Pineda de Mar<br />

(Barcelona, Spain), where he began studying<br />

music at the age of 8. In 2002 he graduated<br />

in singing from the Barcelona Liceo Superior<br />

Music Conservatory subsequently receiving<br />

Honours.<br />

He furthered his voc<strong>al</strong> education in master<br />

classes taught by musicians such as Montserrat<br />

Cab<strong>al</strong>lé. He has performed lyric recit<strong>al</strong>s,<br />

operas, zarzuelas (Spanish music<strong>al</strong> dramas<br />

in which di<strong>al</strong>ogues, songs, choruses and dancing<br />

are <strong>al</strong>ternated), in sever<strong>al</strong> nation<strong>al</strong> and<br />

internation<strong>al</strong> auditoriums and theatres. He<br />

has <strong>al</strong>so performed leading roles as tenor in<br />

operas such as Tosca, Madama Butterfly, La<br />

Bohème, etc. and in zarzuelas.<br />

He has been honoured with sever<strong>al</strong> singing<br />

awards.<br />

Another outstanding performance was his<br />

interpretation of the role of Alfredo in Verdi’s<br />

La Traviata, at the Gran Teatro of Havana, in<br />

2007.<br />

He studied choir conducting with Manuel<br />

Cabero and has conducted sever<strong>al</strong> choirs and<br />

orchestras.<br />

He is the director of the Can S<strong>al</strong>om Music<strong>al</strong><br />

Centre and the Ciutat de C<strong>al</strong>ella Lyric<strong>al</strong><br />

Season as well as director and founder of<br />

the Cor Harmonia C<strong>al</strong>ellenc Choir and of the<br />

Harmonía Chamber Orchestra.
