October 22 – 26, 2014 | Calella/Barcelona, Spain Due to the great enthusiasm among the choral scene regarding the new festival Canta al mar 2012 INTERKULTUR will ensure that Calella will become the meeting place for choirs from all over the world on a yearly basis. Thus also in 2014 from Oct. 22 to 26. In general applies that the fantastic metropolis Barcelona will be an attractive part of this festival. Either as venue for the competition and friendship concerts or simply as destination for a day trip. 3.5 kilometres of sandy beach as well as its location directly at the Mediterranean Sea and close to Barcelona make Calella a popular European travel destination. During the choir festival numerous friendship concerts will take place in the contemplative old town with its Catalan flair. All concert and competition venues as well as accommodations and other event locations in Calella are situated within walking distance. Thus attending concerts and other events can be combined perfectly with a placid stroll through the historic old town. Here choirs will meet, celebrate and sing together and get to know other nations and their traditions. Mixed, male, female, children’s and youth choirs can participate in the competition in established categories and different levels of difficulty. Special attention is given to the categories “Folklore“ and “Pop“. No category will require compulsory pieces so that all participating choirs can choose an appropriate repertoire and perform in front of the jury without major restrictions. Christian Frank nació en Gera, en el año 1968.<br />

Tras sus estudios de bachillerato, cursó estudios<br />

de dirección orquest<strong>al</strong>, piano y música de cá<strong>mar</strong>a<br />

en la Escuela Superior de Música "Franz Liszt"<br />

de Wei<strong>mar</strong>. Desde 1994, Christian lleva impartiendo<br />

clases de dirección orquest<strong>al</strong> y de música<br />

teatr<strong>al</strong> en Wei<strong>mar</strong> y también ha ejercido como<br />

director de la orquesta de cá<strong>mar</strong>a. Otros de sus<br />

logros destacados son su cooperación con la Sociedad<br />

de Conciertos de la Ópera del Estado de<br />

Viena y sus trabajos como pianista, más concretamente,<br />

sus grabaciones para la institución de<br />

radio y televisión. Christian Frank ha instituido y<br />

dirigido a numerosas agrupaciones, incluyendo<br />

la “Neues Kammerorchester Wei<strong>mar</strong>,” la “Franz<br />

Liszt Kammerorchester Wei<strong>mar</strong>,” el “Landesjugendchor”<br />

y el Coro del "Goethe-Gymnasium<br />

de Gera/Rutheneum”. Este coro le ha hecho saborear<br />

y conseguir numerosos éxitos y premios<br />

en competiciones nacion<strong>al</strong>es e internacion<strong>al</strong>es<br />

y, en contraprestación, Christian ha hecho que<br />

éste se posicione como uno de los cor<strong>al</strong>s juveniles<br />

destacados en Alemania. Sus excelentes<br />

dotes como director cor<strong>al</strong> le han llevado a ganar<br />

varios g<strong>al</strong>ardones, incluyendo el Premio <strong>al</strong><br />

Reconocimiento como Director Orquest<strong>al</strong>. Ha<br />

compuesto varias obras de música teatr<strong>al</strong> para<br />

el Teatro Nacion<strong>al</strong> Alemán de Wei<strong>mar</strong>, además<br />

de música cinematográfica para cadenas televisivas.<br />

En el extranjero ofrece actuaciones como<br />

acompañante, pianista de música de cá<strong>mar</strong>a y<br />

director orquest<strong>al</strong>. Desde 2005, lleva ejerciendo<br />

como juez internacion<strong>al</strong> en numerosas competiciones.<br />

Christian Frank was born in Gera in 1968. Following<br />

his high school education, he studied<br />

conducting, piano and chamber music at the<br />

"Franz Liszt" high school of music in Wei<strong>mar</strong>.<br />

Since 1994, Christian taught conducting and<br />

music theatre in Wei<strong>mar</strong> and <strong>al</strong>so held the<br />

post of director of the chamber orchestra.<br />

Other significant achievements include his<br />

cooperation with the Concert Society at the<br />

Vienna State Opera and his work as a pianist,<br />

especi<strong>al</strong>ly his recordings and accompaniments<br />

for German television and radio.<br />

Christian Frank established and directed numerous<br />

ensembles, including the “Neues Kammerorchester<br />

Wei<strong>mar</strong>” and the “Franz Liszt<br />

Kammerorchester Wei<strong>mar</strong>.” He has enjoyed<br />

numerous successes with the “Concert Choir of<br />

the Goethe Gymnasium Gera/Rutheneum” in<br />

nation<strong>al</strong> and internation<strong>al</strong> competitions and<br />

has thus established it as one of Germany's<br />

leading youth choirs. His own excellent performances<br />

as a choir conductor have been honored<br />

with sever<strong>al</strong> awards, including Conductors'<br />

Prizes at INTERKULTUR choir competitions.<br />

As a composer he composed various pieces of<br />

theatre music for the German Nation<strong>al</strong> Theatre<br />

Wei<strong>mar</strong> and film scores for television stations.<br />

Abroad he performs as an accompanist,<br />

chamber music pianist and conductor. Since<br />

2005 he works as an internation<strong>al</strong> adjudicator<br />

in numerous competitions.
