ANNEX I: IMPORTING AND EXPORTING STATES QUESTIONNAIRE<br />

To facilitate <strong>the</strong> timely review <strong>of</strong> export authorizati<strong>on</strong>s <strong>and</strong> to fur<strong>the</strong>r<br />

harm<strong>on</strong>ize <strong>the</strong> applicati<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> this <str<strong>on</strong>g>Guidance</str<strong>on</strong>g>, States are requested to make available to<br />

<strong>the</strong> IAEA through <strong>of</strong>ficial channels <strong>the</strong>ir resp<strong>on</strong>ses to this <strong>Import</strong>ing <strong>and</strong> <strong>Export</strong>ing<br />

State questi<strong>on</strong>naire, as well as any updates <strong>of</strong> those resp<strong>on</strong>ses. Those resp<strong>on</strong>ses<br />

should, with <strong>the</strong> c<strong>on</strong>sent <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> State c<strong>on</strong>cerned, be made available to <strong>the</strong> points <strong>of</strong><br />

c<strong>on</strong>tact <strong>of</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r States. Paragraph 17 <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Code c<strong>on</strong>cerning c<strong>on</strong>fidentiality should<br />

apply to States receiving this informati<strong>on</strong>.<br />

States are requested to answer <strong>the</strong> following questi<strong>on</strong>s, <strong>and</strong> may also provide<br />

explanati<strong>on</strong>s for <strong>the</strong>ir resp<strong>on</strong>ses.<br />

c<strong>on</strong>sistent with paragraphs 19(a) <strong>and</strong> 20 <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Code, is in place.<br />

4. The regulatory body has sufficient staffing <strong>and</strong><br />

training to discharge its regulatory functi<strong>on</strong>s<br />

in a manner c<strong>on</strong>sistent with paragraph 21(a) <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Code.<br />

5. The regulatory body has sufficient resources to<br />

regulate <strong>the</strong> safety <strong>and</strong> security <strong>of</strong> radioactive<br />

sources in a manner c<strong>on</strong>sistent with paragraph<br />

21(b) <strong>and</strong> (c) <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Code.<br />
