Universidad del sigloXXI.TRANSFORMATIONAL LEARNING IN THE SET UP OF THEUNIVERSITY OF THE 21st CENTURYABSTRACTSeveral studies and researches have been published about the developmentof the transformational learning at cognitive level in classroom praxis, yetlittle has been discussed on the connections of these strategies to alllevels of the university system. The purpose of this article is to debate onhow the transformational learning theory can be tied to the present processof change that is going on within Venezuelan universities, to link themwith the demands of this deterritorialized era and to cut down the autocraticmanagement styles that are characterized as punitive and coercive. Iturges to create a university oriented by the principles of learningorganizations, to configure experiential laboratories where the prevailingaspects are: the promotion of critical reflection, the test of new experiencesand the assumption of the own responsibilities on the part of the educativeactors. It is necessary to allow the university community members toreview their ontological visions, thoughts, actions, interrelations andachievements with the purpose of directing universities towards better andmore coherent results according to the present exigencies of the 21stcentury education.Key words: Transformational learning.
