(Ms=7.4, Mw=8.0, depth=17Km) withepicenter in the Middle American Trench, at about 35Kmsouthwest of Manzanillo (MZ), Mexico, produced considerabledamage in constructions located in the epicentral zone, somedamage at Ciudad Guzman (CG) at an epicentral distance of140Km and at about 240Km of the epicenter ligth damagewas also abserved at the city of Guadalajara (G). Threecomponents strong ground motion records were obtained forthe mainshock (as well as for the 6 th and 12 th of octoberforeshock and aftershok) at MZ, CG, and G.In this study we present broadband synthetics generated bya hybrid modeling technique and compare them with theaccelerograms recorded at the three mentioned sites. The longperiod (1Hz) synthetics were generated with theempirical Green function technique, EGFT (Irikura, Procc. 7 thJEES, 1986). For the (
