ANNIVERSARY EDITORIAL GREETING OF ACERA’S BOARD OF DIRECTORS, 13 YEARS OLD... Alfredo Solar President ( Sunedison ) Carlos Finat Executive Director ( ACERA ) “A key sector for competitiveness and sustainability as the Non Conventional Renewable Energy one, deserves a matching association, capable of driving NCREs towards a fast and positive development for everyone involved in its value chain. ACERA is certainly the indicated to promote and disseminate clean energies, in order to open space for them in a competitive and agile way. As the President of the Association, I am very proud -as well as everyone working here for a time- to see how in these 13 years, it has grown and become an effective, reliable and leading voice, not only in its tangible results such as NCRE generation, which already reaches 11% of the matrix, but also in credibility and trustworthiness as a sector. We hope that in the next years ACERA’s work will continue being equally productive and that a 100% renewable Chile by 2050 becomes a reality”. “By the end of 2012, ACERA’s Board of Directors invited me to take part in the Project of a 2.0 ACERA. The challenge appeared to be very interesting, with the mission to promote NCRE in such a way to obtain a more competitive and sustainable power matrix for the country, at a time when NCRE were subject to countless misconceptions which were closing the market for them. Now, working in ACERA, I am glad I accepted the invitation, and very proud of having been part of the process that changed the Chilean energy scenario in a few years. On this anniversary, I would like to reinforce the importance of the association as the official voice of the NCRE sector, and point out that it is -and will be- a key actor for a 100% renewable matrix in Chile by 2050”. It is the meeting place for the different actors of the market, and the industry representative with the highest influence in public decisions concerning the power sector. On its 13th anniversary, we wish to express that we are very proud of being members of ACERA, and highlight that we are in a solid position to face important challenges in the consolidation of the renewable energy industry in Chile… Happy Birthday ACERA!” Paola Hartung Director ( Enel Green Power ) “ACERA has accomplished very successfully its mission of promoting NCREs in Chile. I am sure it will continue supporting all the necessary changes -technical and regulatory- to achieve the renewable energy goals by 2050. I have witnessed how ACERA has become a reference and an example to follow for the Southern Cone countries which have started the path of energy matrix diversification. Chile is internationally recognized as one of the countries with the highest investment in NCRE, more than in infrastructure or mining, for the first time in our history. And the best part is that it is achieved with no direct subsidies from the Government, but thanks to the natural conditions, good public policies and the huge work of all of those who get up every morning with the desire to inject clean energy into our country and the world”. Rodrigo Saez Treasurer Director ( EnorChile ) “ACERA has been crucial for all of its associates. We have worked together in the change processes before the different authorities for the renewable insertion. Laws, technical standards and regulations have been adapted. However, ACERA still has an important task: lead the new wave of changes. The future is promising, since the change from hydrocarbons to clean energy will bring a new wave of demand, modifying business models and increasing the competition for renewable energy supply”.
