Christian Evans
GENERAL MANAGER
secretaria@eolico.cl
Christian is Chilean, married, and the General Manager of Consorcio Eólico.
He is a Public Accountant and Auditor, was born in Madrid, and has lived in
the USA and in Brazil. He has experience as an executive in
Telecommunications and Real Estate sectors, and in the last 10 years in the
NCRE.
What products or services does your company deliver and to what kind(s) of
NCREs?
Consorcio Eólico is a wind project developer in the southern part of Chile, with a
strong presence in the 8th and 9th regions. We develop projects from Greenfield
until they are ready to be sold to operators or investors in the sector.
Which have been the latest new services or changes introduced by your
Company?
We have seen the need to strengthen the relationship between projects and
communities, because of economic, ethical and risk reasons. Our current
community staff has grown not only due to the size of our portfolio, but also to
the level of depth required by this work.
What are the main projects -or themes- you have been recently working on
concerning NCRE or the environment? In case they are generation plans, where
are the located and which are their main characteristics?
We have a portfolio of about 1000MW in different development stages, among
which the San Gabriel, Tolpan, Los Olmos and Mesamavida projects must be
pointed out. All of them are able to provide sustainable energy, at a low cost and
for many years.
Which elements characterize and/or distinguish your company?
We avoid non-competitive projects and give special attention to our relationship
with the actors involved, whether communities, authorities or owners. We also
have the advantage of having our headquarters in Concepcion, which allows us to
attend the requirements of these actors in less time than our competitors.
How important is NCRE participation in the Chilean electric system?
We consider it is vital. Compared to thermal generation, NCREs are cheaper,
environmentally friendly and can commit to a price which will remain stable in
time. We believe that in the not too distant future no more thermal plants will be
built, and they will die out naturally.
Why would you recommend being an ACERA member?
We have accompanied ACERA since the times where it was considered that Chile
could not allow companies such as Consorcio Eolico, since we were a luxury
subsidized by developed countries. ACERA has played a key role in clearing the
way for the sector that will be in charge of cleaning the carbon footprint of this
industry and of our country.
Rodrigo Sáez Rojas
GENERAL MANAGER
info@enorchile.cl
Rodrigo is Chilean, married and has two children. He is an Electronic Civil
Engineer from the U.T.F. Santa María and has three master degrees in
business and energy economy. He has been in the energy business for 17
years, 12 as General Manager of EnorChile. In addition, he has also been
ACERA’s director for the last two years.
What products or services does your company deliver and to what kind(s) of
NCREs?
We have three business areas in EnorChile: power supply to free customers,
technical-economical operation of generation plants, and remote operation of
renewable plants. All of them seek to attend jointly the specific requirements of
our customers.
Which have been the latest new services or changes introduced by your
Company?
We are developing an each time more specialized service for remote operation of
renewable generation plants, with an attractive infrastructure for our customers
and their stakeholders. This has turned us into one of the leading operators of
renewable energies in Chile, and the leader company in solar power operation.
What are the main projects -or themes- you have been recently working on
concerning NCRE or the environment? In case they are generation plans, where
are the located and which are their main characteristics?
Since late 2015 we have been working on the development and implementation
of a web report system and iOS applications which allow obtaining all the
information on plants operated by Enorchile, as well as an historic report of
works, failures and charge control of the NCRE plant.
Which elements characterize and/or distinguish your company?
The main differentiating features are our capability to identify new related
business niches, the honesty in dealing with stakeholders and businesses with
customers.
How important is NCRE participation in the Chilean electric system?
Renewable energies will be the primary sources of power generation in the not
too distant future. This implies great challenges in training qualified staff and the
development of technologies, but it also represents opportunities for those who
take part in this industry.
Why would you recommend being an ACERA member?
It is “THE” instance to include or align the interests of companies that are many
times synergetic -other times competitive- but where we can exchange ideas,
join forces, and finally help to boost the market growth of renewable energy
generation.
