Marta is Spanish but lives in Chile since 2007, and has two children. She has a
Degree in Economic Sciences, a Diploma in Business Management and Marketing,
and a Master’s Degree in Renewable Energy.
Her favorite hobbies are sport, nature, and reading. She came into the energy world
by chance and, without noticing it, has worked for 25 years in the industry.
The GES Manager describes her company as a global market leader in Construction
and Engineering Services for renewable energy projects.
What products or services do your company deliver and to what type(s) of
Renewable Energy?
Marta
Alonso
General Manager South America
GES – GLOBAL ENERGY SERVICES
GES specializes in Engineering, Construction, Wind Turbine Installation, EPC Contracts of
Photovoltaic Solar Parks and in the construction of solar installations on decks.
Which are the latest news or changes introduced by your company?
Argentina, Peru, Colombia, France, and Portugal.
Marta comments that the world of energy captivated her bit by bit more than 20 years
ago, as she considers it very fascinating. In the industry she managed to bring together
two of her biggest battles, positioning women in masculinized industries and boosting
renewable energies as leaders in the energy matrix.
However, despite the progress that the renewable sector has made and how fast its
progress at the national level has been, Marta does not hesitate to describe the
participation of renewable energies in the country's electricity system as " still scarce and
evolving."
As part of the Chilean Association of Renewable Energy and Storage since 2014, Marta
has been aligned with one of its main pillars, the fight against climate change.
It is in this path that renewable energies take on a leading role, and Martha recognizes it.
"Renewable energy is one of the main elements of transformation to mitigate the effects
of climate change," she says.
You have been in the renewable association for five years, several as Treasurer
Director. Why would you recommend being a member of the Association?
Because it is the association par excellence of Renewable Energy in Chile.
In line with the #SoñemosEnergía2030 Campaign carried out by the Association,
what would your renewable dream be by 2030?
I dream that Chile significantly increases its renewable generation.
