La Sección Latinoamericana de AOCS tiene el honor de poner a su alcance el XIV Congreso y Exposición Latinoamericana sobre Grasas y Aceites de AOCS, que se
llevará a cabo en la bella Cartagena, Colombia. Como verán en los próximos días, este Congreso no solo cubre los temas de mayor importancia e interés en la
industria de grasas y aceites, sino que además brinda a los asistentes la información que necesitan para mejorar su actividad comercial en el mercado actual.
También podrán disfrutar de muchos eventos de networking como la recepción de bienvenida, los almuerzos entre las sesiones de conferencia, los refrigerios,
donde tendrán la oportunidad de conocer a actores clave de la industria de grasas y aceites de todo el
mundo. Los refrigerios que se servirán durante las pausas del Congreso, tendrán lugar en el Salón de
Exposición, lo cual constituye una oportunidad ideal para poder ver los nuevos productos y tecnologías
que ofrece el mercado actual y para establecer nuevos contactos y relaciones de trabajo.
Quisiera también aprovechar la ocasión para agradecer a las organizaciones que cooperan con la
realización del Congreso y que han contribuido al éxito de este programa: AOCS, la Asociación Argentina
de Grasas y Aceites (ASAGA), la Corporación Chilena de Aceites y Grasas (Corchiga), la Federación Nacional
de Cultivadores de Palma de Aceite (Fedepalma) y la Sociedade Brasileira de Óleos e Gorduras (SBOG).
Los Moderadores de las conferencias, la Comisión Científi ca y yo nos
hemos propuesto lograr que este Congreso resulte lo más práctico ico
posible con el fi n de que se lleven algo que puedan usar para mejorar ar
la calidad o la efi ciencia, bajar costos, o hacer que sus procesos sean n
más sustentables.
Este Congreso es realmente un espacio de recursos de primerísimo
nivel para el mercado iberoamericano.
Espero que el Congreso les resulte productivo y agradable.

Welcome!
The Latin American Section of AOCS is proud to bring to you the 14th AOCS Latin American Congress and
Exhibition on Fats and Oils in beautiful Cartagena, Colombia. As you will see over the next few days, this
Congress not only covers the most important and timely topics in fats and oils but also off ers you the
knowledge you need to enhance your business in today’s market. You also can enjoy many networking
events, like the welcome reception, conference luncheons, and refreshment breaks, where you can have
the opportunity to meet the key players from the global fats and oils industries. The Exhibition hosts
all of the Congress refreshment breaks and is the ideal opportunity for you to see the new products
and technologies available in the marketplace today as well as the place to establish new contacts and
working relationships.
I would like to take this time to thank the cooperating organizations who have contributed to the success
of this program: AOCS, Argentina Association of Fats and Oils (ASAGA), Chilean Corporation of Oils and
Fats (CORCHIGA), The National Federation of Oil Palm Growers (Fedepalma), and The Brazilian Society of
Oils and Fats (SBOG).
The Session Chairs, the Scientifi c Committee, and myself have focused our eff orts to ensure that this
Congress is as practical as possible to make sure you take home something you can use to improve your
quality or effi ciency, lower your costs, and/or make your process a more sustainable one. This Congress
truly is the premier resource for the Ibero-American market.
