Etnisoi!-festival lights up the darkness ofNovember with <strong>Tanzania</strong>n rhythmsEtnisoi! festival (4-8th of November) is bringing music from around theworld into the cold and dark of the Finnish pre-winter. <strong>Tanzania</strong>n artistsMambo Jambo, Sanaa Sana and Dudu Baya will provide the African beats.The main theme for the Etnosoi!-festival this year is Roma music, with renownedartists like Hungarian Romengo and Romanian Nadara pe<strong>rf</strong>orming at differentvenues in town. The festival will also bring artists from Asia, South America andAfrica to warm up the city. The most famous African musician pe<strong>rf</strong>orming at thefestival will probably be Dobet Gnahoré from Ivo<strong>ry</strong> Coast. This talentedsinger/dancer/percussionist is hailed around the world as a future superstar and haspe<strong>rf</strong>ormed across Africa with legenda<strong>ry</strong> musicians Habib Koité and VusiMahlasela in the Acoustic Africa-tour. Gnahorè will be pe<strong>rf</strong>orming on Saturday inthe Savoy theatre.<strong>Tanzania</strong>n-Finnish music night at KorjaamoOn Friday it’s time for the Tanzanight-club at Korjaamo inTöölö. The organisation Art in <strong>Tanzania</strong> has brought<strong>Tanzania</strong>n artists Mambo Jambo, Dudu Baya and SanaaSana to <strong>Finland</strong>, and they will be keeping the crowd warmwith African beats and rhythms. In addition, internationallyrecognized singer-songwriter Andrew Ashimba from<strong>Tanzania</strong> will be pe<strong>rf</strong>orming at Korjaamo. The Africanartists are supplemented by Finnish pe<strong>rf</strong>ormers TehoMajamäki, Jori & Kari Hulkkonen, Juho Viljanen andthe DJs Miikka Mwamba and MC Mad Ice.On Saturday it's more African music, and after DobetGnahoré's gig Ivorian reggae champion Levi Semakiahprovides sweet reggae rhythms at the African Music DanceNight-club in Ravintola Kaisaniemi.Children's Etnisoi on Sunday - look out for STSSanaa Sana are pe<strong>rf</strong>orming onFriday at Korjaamo and Sunday atMalmitaloPicture: Kari KorhonenOn Father's day 8th of November there is even more <strong>Tanzania</strong>n music and activitieswith the Tanzzania-event for children at Malmintalo. The kids get to makerecordings with Mambo Jambo and Dudu Baya in their freestyle hip-hop workshop,and Sanaa Sana will be pe<strong>rf</strong>orming for kids and adults.
