Pénétration globale foyer : Top 5 des licences
Home penetration of licensing per category
Winnie l’Ourson
Winnie The Pooh
product for their child(ren) age 0 to 3. For this age
range, households received on average 4 different
licenses during the last 6 months.
The pace quickens to reach a peak at 98% with 4 to 10
year-olds. 11 to14 year-olds start to turn away from
licensed products although 3 out of 4 homes don't
give them up with an average of 3 different licenses!
Undethronable licenses
To get down to facts, three properties stand out
distinctly for children as a whole: Winnie the Pooh at
31%, Spiderman at 30% and Dora at 27%. They are
found in 3 out of 10 homes.
The licenses that are owned the most are those that
have strong following as well as being clearly
defined characters with rich imaginary worlds that
follow distinct rules.
Winnie - a coed property - does very well for the 0 to 3
years old bracket and enthuses boys and girls alike.
Spiderman - much a boy's license - succeeded in
developing transversal interest in different age
ranges by leaning on the core target of kids 4 to 10
years old (first ranking) while remaining in the top
10 for other age ranges.
Dora - much a girl's license - developed a very fun
and educational image versus other competitors
which gives it strong positioning for the whole 0 to
10 years old bracket that accompanies awakening
and games and the child's development in general.
This quantitative study was carried out online
between January and February 2008, with the help
of l’Institut des Mamans on a sample of 1500 homes
that represent the French population and have
children ages 0 to 14 years old.
