HOW IMPORTANT IS MONEY?
Evidence seems to suggest that in
our modern society there are more
and more people for whom making
money has become too important.
A recent survey has proved that
94% of middle aged interviewees
give priority to money when it
comes to talk about achieving
happiness. Despite this, however,
young and senior citizens consider
health and love more important in
their lives, as the 80% of them stated
when asked in the same research.
The first point to bear in mind is
that the simple access to technology
and information not only has made
our lives easier, but also leaves us
at the mercy of the marketing world,
which continuously bombards us
with advertising that encourages to
purchase at any time by promising
one or another wonder or benefit.
It cannot be denied that in order to
satisfy so many necessities and
desires, a great amount of money
is necessary, and most people do
not hesitate in increasing the number

faceva niente tutto il giorno: se ne
stava seduto ad aspettare e a sperare
che gli capitasse un colpo di fortuna.
Un giorno però Carlo trovò una
lettera nella cassetta della posta.
Quella sembrava veramente
speciale: aveva l'impronta di un
avvocato. L'aprii nervosamente e
di seguito lesse: “ Egregio Sig.
Manzini... Il suo defunto zio
Maurizio Manzini gli ha consegnato
un'eredità valorata in sette millioni
di euro. Le condizioni per ricevere
questo patrimonio sono: "che sia
sposato con una donna rispettabile
con cui formare una famiglia, che
si incarichi del suo potere e degli
animali che vivono lì e che abbia
un lavoro in cui impari valori come
la responsabilità e il dovere di
compiere con impegni, orari, regole
e cosí via". Lui non aveva né
moglie né lavoro però cominciò a
pensare come se la cavaria per
potere ottenere tutti quei millioni.
Quindi decise prima di tutto
spostarsi verso il potere familiare
ed al giorno dopo, e con valigia in
mano, prese il treno. Dopo tutta una
giornata di viaggio in treno,
finalmente Carlo arrivò al piccolo
paese dove si trovava il potere
famigliare. Però non appena scese
dal treno, si rese conto che il paese
era totalmente vuoto, non c'era
nessuna casa, nessuna persona e
nemmeno un animale. Soltanto in
lontananza, sopra una montagna, si
vedeva un gran castello. Sicomme
lui pensò che fosse il suo potere,
cominciò a camminare valigia in
mano, mentre pensava a come poter
raggiungere le condizione per
ottenere l'eredità.

di una macchina che si avvicinava,
si fermò accanto a lui, e l'autista gli
disse:

Quando arrivarono in cima si poteva

bel castello. Lui si sentì depresso
e senza sapere da dove cominciare.
Dopo un paio di secondi, prese il
suo i-pad e decise di mettere un
annuncio su Facebook e su un foro
di ricerca di cose strane: “Cercasi
donna bella, attiva e onesta per
sposarsi con erede di un vecchio
castello in montagna con possibilità
di costruire un agriturismo. Se ti
piace la vita sana in campagnia, in
armonia con te stessa e con la
natura, vieni a conoscermi! Non ti
pentirai.”

When I was in my third year of University in Palma, I was introduced
to who is now one of my best friends, and whose name is Antonia.

The best aspect of her personality is that she is fiercely loyal to her

strikes people as being somebody they can count on. I think this person
is admirable as a result of always putting others first, even if she's the

On her daily routine, she works as a lawyer trainee at a lawyer's office,
which is placed very close to Palma's centre. Besides, she's looking
for an English academy due to the fact that she believes that if she
spoke English perfectly, she would be more valuated by the companies.
Also, she finds learning English and interesting challenge to take up.
To my mind, Antonia is a hard-working person whose dedication to
her work and friends will be the reason of success in both personal
and professional aspects of her life.
Qualche giorno dopo, centinaia di
pullman arrivarono al vecchio
castello tutti pieni di donne che
venivano da tutte le città italiane
per sposare l'erede. Erano donne
giovani, vecchie, grasse, magre,
belle, brutte, alte, basse, madri,
figlie, nonne. Il piccolo paese vuoto,
quel giorno era pieno di donne che
urlavano: “Dov'è Carlo Manzini?”
e anche “Carlo è mio!!!.
Carlo era nascosto nella sofitta del
castello perché aveva molta paura
e guardava lo spettacolo dalla
finestra. "Ma che cosa ho fatto? .
Non avevo mai visto tante donne
insieme!!!!" Ancora nascosto lassù,
Carlo si rese conto che la sua felicità
non si poteva trovare in un castello
in rovina, con una moglie che, senza
conoscerlo, vorrebbe sposarlo
semplicemente per la sua fortuna e
in un paese vuoto e triste. Si indossò
la divisa di giardiniere che trovò
nella soffitta e scese per la scala.
Le donne lo guardavano e gli
chiedevano dov'era il proprietario
del castello. -Non lo so- rispondeva,
mentre se ne andava verso la

lavorare.”
Carlo era diventato un uomo felice
grazie alla sua determinazione e
all'aiuto di suo zio Maurizio.
