MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS Before use, read all instructions carefully to insure proper setting. We keep the right to modify this product without notification for improvement. MOUTING OF THE PEDALS - Be sure that your crank arms and the LOOK pedals have the standard BSA (9/16 x 20) threading. - Use a 15 mm wrench or a 6 mm Allen key to mount the pedals. (Fig. 1). -Tightening torque is Nm 40. - Clean and grease the crank arms threads before mounting. - The right pedal, D/R marked, will thread into the crank arm clockwise. The left pedal, G/L marked, will thread into the crank arm counter-clockwise. MOUNTING THE CLEATS (Fig. 2 & 3) - Fix the cleats with the screws and the washers supplied with the pedals. - The mark B across the cleat should be placed under the big toe axle. (Fig. 2). - Firmly tighten the 3 screws. - Tightening torque is Nm 15. - Be sure that the screws are tightened before riding with your pedals. - The cleats are equipped with 3 holes to indicate wear A. Replace the cleats when the holes have disappeared. ADJUSTEMENT OF THE RELEASE TENSION - The pedals are setting on the minimum tension when they are delivered. - Adjust the tension with the adjustment bolt located on the rear of the pedal with a 3 mm Allen key. - The tension adjustment bolt will increase release tension if turned clockwise. The display on the back-side of the pedal shows the approximate release tension adjustment. - (Set the adjustment bolt at its initial position till you are not getting used with the system). - Never set the release tension when the cleat is engaged. Don’t over tighten the tension screw , this will cause damage to the pedal. 8 STEP IN / STEP OUT (Fig.7) To step in - Place your cleat over the pedal base 1 and push down 2 to engage the cleat. To step out - Rotate the feet towards the bicycle 3. - The cleat will also release when rotated inward, but this is dangerous. The heel of the shoe can touch the spokes of the wheel. ADJUSTING THE Q FACTOR (Fig.12) - Initially, the distance between the centre line of the pedal and the contact surface on the crank is 51 mm. - The adjustment range is 10 mm from 50 to 60 mm. (Fig.13). - To adjust the spacing, turn the two screws C one turn counter-clockwise using a 3 mm hex wrench. - Push the key out of its housing. - Turn the cartridge E with a flat 22 mm wrench supplied to adjust the spacing. - Turning clockwise brings the pedal nearer the crank and turning anti-clockwise moves it further away. 1/4 turn moves the pedal 1 mm. - Fit the two studs of the key into their housing and push the key fully home. - Tighten the screws C to a maximum torque of 4 N.m. - Make sure that the key is pushed fully home. ADJUSTING THE ANGLE - LOOK pedals are supplied with a contact surface parallel to the shaft (0° angle). The angle can be set from -3° to +3° in steps of 1.5°. The angle is marked on the bearing F. (Fig.13). - The angle is changed by replacing the bearing. - Note the position of shaft and key with respect to the graduations marked on the pedal body. (Fig.12-13). - Fully unscrew the screws C from the body, and then remove the bearing with the shaft and cartridge assembly E from the pedal and the key. (Fig.12). - The screws should float in their housing. - Screw the studs onto the screws C. (Fig. 8). - Put the wrench between the studs as shown on (Fig. 9). - Locate the wrench notch in the groove of one of the studs. - Open the bearing by turning the wrench until it is hard against the groove in the other stud. (Fig. 10). - Unscrew the shaft and cartridge assembly E and remove it. Then change the bearing. English 9
- Remove the wrench. - Unscrew the studs. - Screw the studs onto the bearing you wish to use. - Open the bearing using the wrench. - Put the cartridge back into the bearing. - Remove the wrench. - Unscrew the studs again. - Realign the bearing and key assembly by aligning the screws with the taped holes. - Tighten screws C but not fully. - Adjust the pedal spacing as described above. - We advise you to seek advice from a doctor or a dealer before any adjustment in order to avoid any risk of injury. LOOK will not be held responsible in rhe event of pain or injury caused by an improper pedal adjustment. If your feet are in pronation (Fig.14), use the negative angles, in the contrary if your feet are in supination (Fig.15) do use the positives angles. - If the cartridge does not come out without forcing, free it by turning anti-clockwise. CHANGING THE WEAR PLATE (Fig.11) The switch of the wear plate is possible (not under warranty). Contact your retailer. DISMOUTING OF THE PEDAL AXLE -To remove the axle use the LOOK spindle tool 1 using other tool may damage the retainer nut .(Fig. 6) - If you remove the axle grease it well before placing it in the pedal body. Tightening torque is between Nm 8 and 10. WARRANTY NB : This LOOK product is warranted under normal use against defect in workmanship and material to the purchaser for one year from purchase date provided the following conditions are met: 1 - User assumes all risk of personal injury, damage to a failure of the product if is used in stunt or ramp jumping, acrobatics or similar activities. 2 - This warranty doesn’t cover any accidental or consequential damages, such as personal injury or any losses due to accident, neglect, misuse, normal wear and tear, improper assembly maintenance. 3 - When returning a defective LOOK product for warranty purposes, the claimant must provide proof of purchase and written description of damages. 4 - There are no other warranty implied except this express limited warranty. 10 Warning. LOOK cycle cannot be held liable for any accident or injury resulting from the use of worn cleats. LOOK guarantees the good working of cleats only if they are used with products made by LOOK CYCLE INTERNATIONAL SA 11
