AL-KO Load Carrier
Safety instructions
Caution - Accident!
When loading your vehicle pay attention to the
permissible load at the rear and that there is adequate
axle load at the front. Should this not be
adhered to, this can lead to errors in the electronic
dynamic handling control system (e.g. ESP)!
Fitting may only be carried out by an authorised specialist
workshop. All bolts must be tightened using
the specifi ed torque after at the latest, a 50 km journey.
Always pull the handbrake on when fi tting or loading
the load carrier and secure the vehicle from rolling
away
No items of luggage or load must project over the
load carrier or the side of the vehicle. Danger to
other road users must be prevented. Please note
the national and legal country requirements in respect
of loading.
The lights and the vehicle registration on the load
carrier must not be covered by the load.
Secure any luggage or cycles to be carried. The
centre of gravity of the load must be in the centre
towards the platform. The driver of the vehicle is responsible
for this.
Load straps can lose their clamping force due to
effects of the journey and the weather. Check your
load is secured well at regular intervals.
The road holding of your vehicle can change due to
the way the load carrier is fi tted and its loading. Drive
at a suitable speed with your vehicle and load.
Note: The vehicle rear swivels outward due to the
extended overhang.
When loading your vehicle ensure that the steering
is retained on the front axle. The base vehicle manufacturers
often prescribe a minimum front axle
load. Please ask your vehicle manufacturer for details.
Check the axle loads before starting the journey. In
so doing, take the luggage in the vehicle and the
passengers into account.
Before the journey check the electrics for the lights
for the load carrier.
Should the carrier not be required to transport luggage,
it must be removed.
