Traumatisme <strong>du</strong> <strong>rachis</strong> cervical supérieur<br />
<strong>Les</strong> instabilités atloïdo-axoïdiennes<br />
Le ligament transverse assure la fixation <strong>du</strong> processus odontoï<strong>de</strong> à l'arc<br />
antérieur <strong>de</strong> l'atlas. Il intervient dans la prévention <strong>de</strong> la mobilité<br />
excessive <strong>de</strong> C1 par rapport à C2. Ce ligament est habituellement lâche<br />
chez <strong>l'enfant</strong> et peut être déficient dans plusieurs situations engendrant<br />
une instabilité atloïdo-axoïdienne.<br />
En effet, l'hyperlaxité ligamentaire peut être secondaire à:<br />
une inflammation <strong>de</strong> la synoviale ( l'arthrite rhumatoï<strong>de</strong> juvénile ),<br />
une pharyngite ou un abcès rétro-pharyngé (syndrome <strong>de</strong> Grisel),<br />
un syndrome <strong>de</strong> Down ou <strong>de</strong> Morquio qui s'accompagnent d'une<br />
laxité ligamentaire constitutionnelle avec une hypoplasie <strong>de</strong> l'odontoï<strong>de</strong>.
