When you feel there istoo much bass, rotate counterclockwise to suppress.Control range: –10 dB to +10 dB (20 Hz)TREBLEWhen you feel there is not enough treble (high frequencysound), rotate clockwise to boost. When you feel there istoo much treble, rotate counterclockwise to suppress.Control range: –10 dB to +10 dB (20 kHz)Retain a full tonal range at any volume level, thuscompensating for the human ears’ loss of sensitivity tohigh and low-frequency ranges at low volume.CAUTIONLOUDNESSVOLUMEVOLUME +/–If the CD DIRECT AMP switch (R-S700 only) or thePURE DIRECT switch is turned on with the LOUDNESScontrol set at a certain level, the input signals bypass theLOUDNESS control, resulting in a sudden increase in thesound output level. To prevent your ears or the speakersfrom being damaged, be sure to press the CD DIRECTAMP switch (R-S700 only) or the PURE DIRECT switchafter lowering the sound output level or after checking thatthe LOUDNESS control is properly set.■Adjusting the BALANCE control1 Set the LOUDNESS control to the FLATposition.BALANCEThe BALANCE control adjusts the sound output balanceof the left and right speakers to compensate for soundimbalance caused by speaker locations or listening roomconditions.2 Rotate the VOLUME control on the frontpanel (or press VOLUME +/– on the remotecontrol) to set the sound output level to theloudest listening level that you would listento.3 Rotate the LOUDNESS control until thedesired volume is obtained.yAfter setting the LOUDNESS control, enjoy listening to music atyour preferred volume level.
