Winner on his seasonal debut at Dax this year, sha’hir
(Amer) has somewhat disappointed in the Coupe du Sud-
Ouest (Gr. III PA) recently at La Teste-de-Buch. Trained by
François Rohaut, he put the clock back on the Belgian
track of Ostende, taking the Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al
Nahyan Cup (Gr. III PA) ridden by the French Mickaël
Forest.
With prize money of 35,000 euros, the eight-runner race
included al mahdod (Munjiz), who had given a first
Group PA success to the Qatari jockey Faleh Bughenaim
on this same track in the President of the UAE Cup (Gr. III
PA) on the 1st August this year. This latter led the race at
a selective pace and paid for his efforts in the end.
Sha’hir, always in a good position, profited from good
decision making from his jockey and passed by al
nashmi (Majd Al Arab) whilst fajr Qardabiyah (Dormane)
came to steal third place from Al Mahdod. Xavier Ziani,
ambassador of Sheikh Mansoor's Festival, explained:
“Sha’hir had been long awaited after his run in top
company at La Teste recently. This was an open race, with
plenty of pace and Sha’hir finished very well.”
the family Of neZ d’Or
Sha’hir is the best living progeny of nashma (Dormane),
who was a winner but did finish third in the Prix Nefta at
Toulouse. The second dam, Naiada Al Maury (Baroud III),
gave noreen (Dormane), winner of six races including the
Hatta International Stakes (Gr. I PA) and nez d’Or fr
(Dormane), winner of the Dubai Kahayla Classic (Gr. I PA).
Naiada Al Maury, bred by Renée-Laure Koch, is a
daughter of the great nevadour fr (Ourour).
