D’arenberg<br />
AUSTRALIA<br />
Established in 1912, d’Arenberg is one of Australia’s<br />
most colourful wineries. It has a reputation for using<br />
traditional methods in the vineyard and winery to create<br />
distinctive and dynamic wines. The current custodians are<br />
third generation statesman, d’Arry Osborn, and fourth<br />
generation, Chester Osborn. Chester tends the McLaren<br />
Vale vineyards purchased and established by his great<br />
grandfather, managing them in a similar way he avoids<br />
soil cultivation, uses minimal or no irrigation and refuses<br />
to fertilize. He makes wine in the cellars built by his<br />
grandfather and employs time honoured techniques such as<br />
open fermentation, foot treading and the exclusive use of<br />
basket presses.<br />
