With boundaries set as far back as 1267, Herdade do<br />
Esporão is located in Reguengos de Monsaraz, in the<br />
Alentejo region of Portugal and is characterised by the<br />
diversity of its volcanic and schist soils. Warmed by the<br />
Alentejo sun, which is tempered by cool Atlantic breezes,<br />
the estate stretches for over 1,800 hectares and includes 500<br />
hectares of vineyards and 82 hectares of olive groves.<br />
David Baverstock is the chief winemaker at Esporão and is<br />
no stranger to Ireland. David was part of the pioneering first<br />
wave of antipodean flying winemakers and has been crafting<br />
wines at Esporão for over 20 years.<br />
