NEWS 2023 GOSSET CELEBRIS TROPHY WHERE INNOVATION REMAINS A PRIORITY The trophy now celebrates initiatives or concepts focusing both on tangible and intangible heritage and successfully showcases noble ideas in the vanguard of modernity, even if they have been around for decades or even centuries. case in point is the Auteuil Apprentices, 2023 award recipient, A which was founded in 1866 and launched the SKOLA educational initiative for viticulture in 2018, in conjunction with several chateaux from the ‘Vignerons du Vivant’ collective in the Médoc. The scheme trains 16 to 30 year-olds with no or few qualifications whose challenging situation prevents them from being socially integrated. By preparing them for viticulture jobs at the partner wineries directly, the programme introduces them to a profession, the beauty of nature, the pride of doing a job and the strength of being part of a group. “Supporting young people who are struggling is the driving force behind the Auteuil Apprentices foundation and seeing them blossom when they find their niche in life is the greatest reward”, concludes Nicolas Truelle, ALAIN BARATON, LAST YEAR’S TROPHY RECIPIENT, NICOLAS TRUELLE, the foundation’s managing director. This unusual name refers to a project aimed at preventing perfumes of the past from falling into oblivion and to do the same thing with present-day perfumes that could experience the same fate. The mission of this one-of-a-kind institution, run by Thomas Fontaine, is to identify, collect and preserve the perfumes, but also to track down some that have disappeared and bring them back to life by recreating them from the original formulae. The institution is a kind of shared memory of aromas. TREASURE HUNT: A FABULOUS €100,000 WINE CELLAR TO BE WON The creators of the Unsolved treasure hunt, in conjunction with Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte, Petit Futé guide books and over 40 wineries, have just launched Elixir d’Or, an international treasure hunt translated Elixir d’Or is the first global treasure hunt for wine and heritage. The prize is the wine cellar worth €100,000 of the Count of Saint-Germain, a multilingual adventurer, alchemist, spy and 18th century figure reputed to be immortal. The treasure hunt is an armchair game – the six short riddles written on a scroll can be solved at home. The riddles point to an extremely specific location in France where a chest is buried. The first person to dig in the right place and find the chest wins the into seven languages which is open to everyone (except minors). cellar and the game ends.
