L’Umbria conserva le
tracce del mare alla
base delle colline, un
tempo isole. Qui il
verde presenta una
vitale esplosione di
sfumature, alimentato
dalle acque che
s’insinuano nel
sottosuolo, sgorgano
dalle fonti e
scompaiono nelle
grotte.
I primitivi abitanti
hanno scelto questi
colli e altipiani, protetti
dai limiti naturali di
fiumi o torrenti, poi vie
di comunicazione e
fonte di energia.
Il paesaggio è stato
disegnato dal lavoro
dell’uomo, con colture
arrivate anche
attraverso il mare, come
la vite. Nel corso dei
secoli la viticoltura ha
attraversato diverse sfide, fra sapienza antica e moderna
tecnologia, per ottenere una produzione sempre più
raffinata.
Umbria preserves the
traces of the sea at the
foot of its hills, once
islands. Here greenery
shows a vital explosion of
nuances, fed by the waters
that wind in and around
the underground, gurgle
from the springs and
disappear in the grottoes.
The primitive inhabitants
chose these hills and
plateaus, protected by the
natural limits of rivers or
torrents, once routes of
communication and
sources of energy.
The countryside was
designed by man’s work,
with crops coming even
from across the sea, such
as the grapevine. Over the
centuries viticulture has
encountered various
challenges, from ancient
wisdom to modern
technology, to obtain
production that has been
ever more refined.
The Tiber river, natural boundary between the Umbrians and
the Etruscans, has furrowed the Karst rock between Todi and
Orvieto to the point of carving a bitter but attractive gorge
between the pink limestone and the intense green of the holm
oaks: the “Forello”.
Along this surprising trail, a continuous play of lights and
