7,6 km VILLAFALLETTO Villafalletto, feudo della famiglia Falletti marchesi di Barolo è città natale di Bartolomeo Vanzetti, uno dei due anarchici (l’altro era Nicola Sacco) ingiustamente giustiziati in sedia elettrica negli Stati Uniti durante la “paura dei rossi” (1927). Di Fossano il generale Bava Beccaris, protagonista nella repressione dei moti milanesi del 1898, Ambrogio Bergognone (conosciuto come da Fossano), pittore rinascimentale. Dogliani, which origin dates back to the pre-roman period, is the birth place of Luigi Einaudi, the first elected President of the Republic, and also native town of publisher Giulio Einaudi and of entrepreneur in the confectionary industry Michele Ferrero. After Dogliani is also named a variety of Dolcetto, a typical Piedmont wine. Gran Piemon 56,7 km MONFORTE D’ALBA Monforte d’Alba è uno degli undici comuni produttori di Barolo, tra i vini italiani più pregiati e conosciuti al mondo. È famoso per un assedio dell’Arcivescovo di Milano intorno all’anno Mille, Ariberto da Intiminiano, desideroso di estirpare l’ideologia catara. La popolazione, deportata nel capoluogo lombardo, scelse il rogo pur di non abiurare. Risale al 1986 l’anfiteatro naturale dall’acustica perfetta, sede di illustri concerti. Monforte d’Alba is one of the eleven villages where the Barolo wine is grown, which is one of the most appreciated and worldly renown Italian wines. The town is also recorded for a siege which took place around year thousand, lay by the Milan’s Archbishop Ariberto da Intiminiano, in order to eradicate the Catharist ideology. Home town of Ferrero’s Headquarters, Alba is also the place of birth of Beppe Fenoglio, author of “Il partigiano Johnny”. 136,7 km ACQUI TERME Acqui Terme sorge nell’alto Monferrato e vanta stabilimenti termali fin dal Quattrocento. Ottimo il filetto baciato, un salume che si ottiene insaccando carne macinata di maiale attorno a un filetto conservato in salamoia, e l’Acquese al rum, un cioccolatino fondente. Qui si vinifica dolcetto, barbera, moscato e cortese ma il più famoso è il Brachetto DOCG, buonissimo vino rosso da dessert. The Gavi settlement dates even back to the Neolithic era, followed later by the Romans, the Hungarians, the Saracens, the Genoa Republic and finally the Visconti. The vine with the same name, a DOCG denomination, is considered as one of the finest white wines of northern Italy. 189,8 km SERRAVALLE SCRIVIA Serravalle Scrivia è un borgo fortificato in provincia di Alessandria. Ha ospitato la partenza dell’11a tappa del Giro 2007 ed è sede del più grande outlet in Europa: 180 negozi collegati con Milano, Genova e Torino via pullman. Serravalle Scrivia is a small fortified town in the Alessandria Province. The city hosted the departure of the 11th stage of the 2007 Giro and features the biggest outlet in Europe: i.e. 180 shops connected by bus to Milan, Genoa and Turin.
