FOREWORDThe thoughts in the Agenda Paolina for this yearaccompany the daily liturgy, deriving inspirationfrom one or the other reading of the Mass, from thecurrent feast or from the saint of the day. They are brief starting points drawn from the writingsof blessed James Alberione that emphasize somethingof the many facets of the proclaimed Word.Placed near the liturgical passage, they open glimmersof light on the Word of the day; considered in themselves, they give suggestions for personal reflection. On his love for the word of God Fr. Alberionehas played his entire existence, whether in vitalfamiliarity with it or to offer to all – to the farawayin the first place – the possibility to hear that Word, which after having permeated the fundamentalvalues of life, can convert them and make themlive. He said: “Be like a burning fire first to be ableto give light thereafter,” that is, assimilate the Wordto be able to communiucate it after, since “the Bibleis the book that we must give, using all the meansthat Lord has given us.”The year 2012 is the year of the Synod about “Thenew evangelization for the transmission of the Christianfaith,” since there is “the need – as Pope BenedictXVI has said – to propose again the Gospel to personswho know little of it or straightaway have gone awayfrom the Church.” These Alberionian fragmentsthought out as a commentary to the liturgy of theday, accompany us in a useful way to our churchappointment, igniting from time to time our prayer. The prayer intentions of the month come from theproposals presented to the Pope at the end of theSynodal Assembly on “The Word of God in the lifeand mission of the Church” (2008) and reprised inthe Apostolic Exhortation Verbum Domini (2010).Fr.
