Cabins and CarsKabinen und WagenCabine e vagoniAside from the station buildings, the cabins of aerial cablewaysand the cars of track-mounted cableways are the mostvisible components of a cableway system. Tourism organizationsrecognized this early on and incorporated the designof the cabins into their marketing. This principle has beenadopted by cities and transit services.It can be generalized that small cabins (for up to seventeenpassengers) are selected in a basic model and then individuallycustomized (exterior colors of the cabins, color andcovering of the seats, floor covering, etc.) Large cabins (forup to 200 passengers) and cars for track-mounted cableways(for up to 400 passengers) are individualized not only in sizeand design, but also with regard to their functionality (theamount of seats and standing area, the number and arrangementof spaces for baby strollers and wheelchairs, placesfor bicycles, and so on). If desired, cabins and cars are alsoavailable in “old style models”.The bodywork of modern cabins and cars is producedin a similar fashion to that of airplanes using lightweightconstruction.
