SM GREAT PRODUCTS BEGIN WITH PRI E LUMBER HARDWOODS WHO’S WHO IN HARDWOOD PURCHASING Kathy Fremer is president and owner of Fremer Moulding Inc., Brockway, Pa. Established in 1992, Fremer Moulding Inc. manufactures Hardwood flooring, specialty flooring, casings, baseboards, mouldings, paneling, wainscoting, etc. The company has a retail division in the Brockway area dedicated to serving local customers. Fremer Moulding purchases approximately 700,000 board feet annually of 4/4 and 5/4 Red and White Oak, Cherry, Walnut and Poplar. Fremer began in the forest products industry in 1973 when she married her husband Paul, who was a logger at the time. Married for 38 years, the Fremers have three sons and one daughter. In her spare time Fremer enjoys quilting, reading and running a quilt and coffee shop. “The lumber business has been a very enjoyable business for my husband and I and our family through the years. There are tough times and good times, but it has become a way of life for our family,” Fremer said. Doors and More purchases approximately 500,000 board feet annually of Red and White Oak, Ash, Cherry, Hard and Soft Maple, Alder, Walnut and Mahogany. The firm manufactures cabinet doors, moulding and dovetail drawer boxes. Harman began his career in the forest products industry in 1971 in millwork sales. Since that time he has been involved in sales and management, and was the president and CEO of two national millwork manufacturing companies representing building products and furniture industries. A graduate of Floyd County High School, he attended Virginia Tech located in Blacksburg, Va., and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Harman is a former President of the American Window and Door Association and a former Vice President of Virginia Building Material Dealers Association. Widowed in 2011, he and his wife of 42 years, Linda had one son. In his leisure time Harman enjoys fishing and playing golf. Peter Kennedy is the general manager at Fine Lumber and Plywood Inc., located in Austin, Texas. His responsibilities include purchasing lumber and plywood products and overseeing the operation. He has been with the company for 27 years, and in his current position for eight years. Fine Lumber manufactures custom run mouldings, stock mouldings, gang rip and S2S. Other offerings include CNC routing, rough and milled lumber, moulding and plywood. Kennedy purchases 500,000 board feet per year of miscellaneous Hardwood species in FAS and No. 1 Common, 4/4 through 8/4 kiln-dried lumber. Kennedy received his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Arts from Southwest Texas State University in 1980. He was a member of the Industrial Arts Club while in college. After graduation, Kennedy taught high school wood and metal shop. He got his first job in the lumber industry in 1983. Kennedy started out setting up and running the mill operations for Fine Lumber. Kennedy has been married 26 years to Mary and has two boys named Mark and Tommy. As a family, they have enjoyed many hobbies that include boating, camping, music and woodworking. Superior Hardwoods & Millwork purchases approximately 100,000 board feet of lumber annually counting all species such as Walnut, Cherry, Hickory, Ash, Maple, Butternut, Alder, Douglas fir, pine, Tigerwood and Ipe. Ross began inspecting lumber for his father in 1978 and moved into sales and purchasing 26 years ago. He has been with Fitts for 16 years and is in charge of lumber purchasing, inspection, and kiln operations. Fitts Industries, Inc. produces turnings, squares, and stair parts in various species including Beech, Cherry, Hard and Soft Maple, Walnut, Red Oak, and Poplar. The company purchases 2 million + board feet of all lumber combined annually. Fitts Industries, Inc., founded by Frank Fitts, Jr., began as a dimension mill for furniture industries, making table and chair legs and bedposts. Ross is a graduate of Hattiesburg High School, the University of Southern Mississippi, and the National Hardwood Lumber Association (NHLA) Inspection School. He and his wife of 32 years, Donna, have two children and are members of St. Mark United Methodist Church in Northport, Ala.
