Our three sawmills cut over 15 million board feet a year of fine Appalachian Hardwood lumber in 4/4 through 8/4 thicknesses in mostly Red Oak, White Oak and Poplar as well as Ash and Maple. Our crosstie mill manufactures about 100,000 board feet per week of crosstie and tie sides in species such as Hickory, Sycamore, Beech, Gum and Elm. In addition to the lumber we cut from our sawmill we also process millions of board feet of lumber per year through our concentration yard business. Recently our Hardwood lumber production has increased from processing 30 million board feet a year to 50 million board feet a year. We purchase and process all domestic species in all grades. 2.) Our modern planer mill runs two shifts to ensure ontime shipments of our lumber to customers. We deliver kiln dried or air dried lumber and offer export preparation and on-site container loading. 3.) We offer 600,000 board feet of fan shed inventory at all times, to provide efficient service to our customers. Kepley-Frank maintains an air dried inventory of 5,000,000 plus board feet of all species, to ensure back up inventory for our customers. This is an inside view of one of Kepley-Frank’s sawmills cutting a large log. The firm cuts lumber in 4/4 through 8/4 thicknesses. Through Jimmy Kepley acquiring the dry kilns at Lexington Home Brands’ plant #2 in Lexington, N.C., his company offers kiln dried lumber from this plant’s eight dry kilns with a total dry kiln capacity of 600,000 board feet per charge. WOODLAND, PA—Walker Lumber Company Inc., located here, recently acquired the assets of Van Jones Hardwoods, located in Hollidaysburg, PA. Van Jones Hardwoods was a custom kiln-drying operation for Pennsylvania Hardwoods, providing products for domestic and export markets. Walker Lumber will Simon Ince use this facility to grow its kiln-dried business in Red and White Oak, Cherry and Ash. Simon Ince has been named general manager of the Hollidaysburg facility. Ince graduated from Penn State University, where he studied wood products and business. He then joined Walker Lumber and has held several roles there the past two years. Walker Lumber Company was founded in 1897 by brothers Chester and W.D. Walker. Today, the company’s products include kiln-dried lumber, green lumber, pallet material, veneer logs, saw logs and by-products. Walker Lumber produces 11 million board feet annually in Cherry, Red and White Oak, Hard and Soft Maple, Ash and Poplar. For more information, visit www.wlci.us. NEWALD, WI—Cleereman Industries Inc., headquartered here, has hired Jim Winkelman as the lead engineer. Winkelman has 15 years of experience and prior to this position served as the head design engineer for Superior Diesel since 2010. He has a bachelor’s degree in engineering and mechanical design. Paul Cleereman “Cleereman Industries has its own in-house engineering department and we are excited to welcome Jim Winkelman to our team,” stated company Vice President Paul Cleereman. At the Richmond Expo, Cleereman Industries displayed its new 852 debarker that was recently added to its product line and Paul Cleereman said sales have been strong since the show. The equipment company recently completed six different installs: At Ashton Lewis in Gatesville, NC, a LP-42 Tilt Carriage and a 200 AC Carriage Drive was installed. At Twin River Hardwood in Southside, WV, Cleereman Industries installed an HS-380 Carriage, a Modular Track Frame, a 75 horsepower Hydrostatic Carriage Drive, a Cleereman Operators Cab and a Dual Cable Tensioner. At Peter Herman Lumber in Marion, NY, a HS-40 Carriage, a Modular Track Frame, a Cleereman Saw Husk with Top Saw and a Cleereman Operators Cab has been installed. At Owens Lumber in Pineapple, AL, an HS-380 Carriage, a Cleereman 15’ by 30’ Drop Belt with Cant Pins and a Cleereman Operators Booth was installed. At Millville Lumber in Snow Hill, MD, Cleereman Industries installed a LP-36 Linear Carriage, a 75 horsepower Hydrostatic Carriage Drive and a Dual Cable Tensioner. MEMPHIS, TN–Lance Johnson was recently promoted to vice president of sales and marketing for ISK® Biocides Inc., and has relocated to its headquarters here. Johnson has worked at ISK Biocides for 24 years with nine years spent as district sales supervisor in Pennsylvania, 13 years as district Lance Johnson sales supervisor in Virginia, and two years as sales manager. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in wood science from Iowa State University, located in Ames, IA, and participated in college internships at Weyerhaeuser and Temple-Inland in 1990 and 1991. He also worked in lumber sales for Frank Paxton Lumber for two-and-half years. Johnson is settling in his new state and home with his wife of 21 years. The couple has one daughter and son.
