WHA Welcomes Guests At Portland Convention Photos By Kathy Brock Portland, OR–Eighty-five members and guests were in attendance recently at the 2nd Annual Western Hardwood International Convention & Exposition, hosted by the Western Hardwood Association (WHA). The event was held at the Holiday Inn Airport, located here. In addition to exhibitor showcases and multiple networking events, attendees were offered an opportunity to hear expert presentations. Michael Snow, executive director of AHEC, provided opening keynote remarks, followed by an informational session presented by Tommy MacDonald, representing the Hardwood Forest Foundation, with Charley Fiala and Crystal Oldham with HFF’s Truth About Trees. Other presentations included, Bob Bishop with APHIS; Brian Court, Miller Hull Partnership; Gordon Culbertson with Forest-2-Market; Jeff Maguire, Maguire Machinery Group; and Kurt Quade, Michael Weinig Inc. Also presenting were Bruce Bare, University of Washington; Scott Leavengood, Oregon State Wood; and Dana Spessert, National Hardwood Lumber Association.
