Charleston, SC Country Club C0028433-CC2 Harden Furniture Inc., based in McConnellsville, NY, recently announced it would maintain its independent ownership, ending speculation that the residential manufacturer would be acquired by an Asian investment firm. As reported in The Rome Sentinel, Harden has obtained million in financing from a New York bank, along with a prior grant from Empire State Development. The money will be used to upgrade and expand its 450,000-squarefoot facility in McConnellsville. The upgrade will include additional CNC machinery, new equipment for the upholstery and finishing operations, and upgrades to also increase capacity in the sawmill area. Headed by CEO Greg Harden, the 171-year-old-familyowned company has approximately 250 employees. The company received an offer by Taiwan-based Alexandre International, a manufacturer of commercial and residential furnishings. “At that time Harden considered the availability of capital, expanded access to retail markets in the Far East, and operational synergies to be attractive opportunities. As part of the newest season, Payne guided viewers through the renovation of a home in Charlotte, NC, which included the construction of a Cypress pergola. The project’s goal, according to Payne, was to transform a 30-year-old brick home into a contemporary abode, and outdoor living areas were an important component of its overall look and function.
