TRADE TALK John Mortati troy Mason Jeff Poirier, Sales Manager Cell 207-227-4393 I Email jpoirier@mainewoods.net Fontana, Ca—Peterman Lumber Inc., based here, recently announced John Mortati as its new sales manager and Troy Mason as its new purchasing agent. Mortati has been a Hardwood purchasing agent at the company for 1.5 years. He will continue to purchase Hardwoods. He has five years of experience as an independent contractor and his first job in the forest products industry was in retail sales of sawdust and shavings in Riverside, CA, in 1979. Mortati obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Golden West College, located in Huntington Beach, CA. In his spare time he enjoys boating, traveling, motorcycle riding and fishing. Troy Mason is responsible for purchasing panel products, Hardwood plywood, softwood plywood, melamine, and imported plywood. Previous employment includes Weyerhaeuser, Columbia Forest Products and Murphy Plywood. He began his career in the forest products industry at his father’s construction company in 1974. A graduate of Oregon State University, Corvallis, OR, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. In his spare time Mason enjoys playing golf, fly fishing and hunting. Founded in 1979, Peterman Lumber Inc. operates an 11- acre corporate yard and customer service center in Fontana, CA, as well as a large distribution facility in Las Vegas, NV, Phoenix, AZ, and most recently a 22,500-square-foot warehouse in Oxnard, CA. William Faircloth Sam terry Huntland, tn—Thompson Appalachian Hardwoods Inc., located here, recently announced the addition of William Faircloth and Sam Terry. Faircloth is a domestic sales and purchasing agent. He graduated from Stratford Academy, Macon, GA, in 2009 and Georgia Southern University, Statesboro, GA, in 2013, where he obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Logistics and Intermodal Transportation and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing with a sales emphasis. In 2015 he graduated from the National Hardwood Lumber Association Inspector Training School in Memphis, TN. Terry is the operation’s new procurement manager. He is responsible for the purchase of all logs, timber and land. He began his career in the forest products industry as an inventory forester at Champion International Corp., Waynesboro, TN, in 1977. Since that time he has held various wood procurement positions with Champion International until 2001 when he went to work at International Paper as a procurement specialist. Terry graduated from Mississippi State University in Starksville, MS. He is a member of the Alabama Forestry Please turn the page This is a view of our 50 bay sorter. Information about our sawmill, planer mill and lumber inventory is below: 1.) Our three sawmills cut 15 million board feet a year of fine Appalachian Hardwood lumber in 4/4 through 8/4 thicknesses in mostly Red Oak, White Oak and Poplar as well as Ash and Maple. Our crosstie mill manufactures about 100,000 board feet per week of crosstie and tie sides in species such as Hickory, Sycamore, Beech, Gum and Elm. In addition to the lumber we cut from our sawmill we also process another 12 to 15 million board feet of lumber per year through our Hardwood concentration yard business. We purchase and process all domestic species in all grades. 2.) Our modern planer mill runs two shifts to ensure on time shipments of our lumber to customers. We deliver kiln dried or air dried lumber and offer export preparation and on site container loading. 3.) We offer 600,000 board feet of fan shed inventory at all times, to provide efficient service to our customers. Kepley-Frank maintains an air dried inventory of 5,000,000 plus board feet of all species, to ensure back up inventory for our customers. *Through Jimmy Kepley acquiring the dry kilns at Lexington Home Brands’ plant #2 in Lexington, N.C., his company offers kiln dried lumber from this plant’s eight dry kilns with a total dry kiln capacity of 600,000 board feet per charge.
