syndrome in the picture
“Videothermography: Complex Regional Pain Syndrome in the
(Trauma RElated Neural Dysfunction) consortium.
Summary
On the third of Oktober 2007. Sjoerd Niehof defended his
PhD-thesis “Videothermography: Complex Regional Pain
Syndrome in the picture?” at the university of Rotterdam.
The supervisor was Prof. Dr. J. Klein professor and chair of
Figuur 1
Huidige hypothese over het mechanisme achter vasomotore verstoring in CRPS
Anaesthesiology Erasmus MC and co-supervisors were
Dr. F.J. Zijlstra head of the Experimental Anaesthesiology
and Dr. F.J.P.M. Huygen head of the Pain Treatment centre
Erasmus MC. In this thesis several studies are described
which investigated thermography as an assessment
instrument to be used in Complex Regional Pain
Syndrome (CRPS). The studies took place at the Pain
Treatment centre within the TREND (Trauma RElated
Neural Dysfunction) consortium. The main purpose of
this knowledge consortium is to gain insight in pathophysiology
of CRPS. In this article a short description is
given of the main findings of the thesis. Successively the
application of thermography as a diagnostic tool, the use
of thermography as a monitoring tool will be discussed
and the use of thermography as a tool to elucidate more
insight in the pathophysiology of CRPS will be addressed.
Inleiding
