get that there is not a single central
architect with a enormous salary!)
But don’t start adopting slime
cells just now, there is (Who has not
expected it?) a huge draw back: The
experiment is very time-expensive.
It is hard to adapt it to complexer
situations. Also. and above all, it
is dirty biology. So as to not to get
our hands messy we have to invent
a new method, a simulation. label
As everybody knows you cannot invent
anything new without building
on older knowledge. The closest approximate
of the real world is the
cellular automaton. It assumes only
that every event happens on a discrete
n-dimensional grid. (Where
the second dimension is the best
studied.) This approach was further
developed by biologist to include
sets of partially differential
equations simulating the diffusion of
chemicals. We can trace this development
back to the later work of
Turing. The recognition of the socalled
Turing Patterns are the third
most notable achievement after the
Church-Turing thesis and the Turing
Test.
With such a framework it might
be possible to steal one more of
nature secrets. Is it possible? I
will found out. Science begins with
questions not answers.
