SCHOOL TRIP TO OPORTO
On the 28th April some
classes of the 10th and 11th
forms went on a school trip to
Oporto.
It all started at 8:30 a.m.
when we got on the bus which
would drive us to the
“Romantic Museum”. When we
arrived there, we were divided
in smaller groups, so that we
could visit and appreciate the
beauty and the richness of that
house, characteristic of the
ENGLISH
Sometimes, when I’m
trying to get something,
I can almost see it,
t h a t d r e a m I ’ m
dreaming…
But there’s the voice
inside my head
saying ‘you’ll never
reach it’.

every move I make

W h a t a r e t h e
differences between “Ensino
Básico” and “Ensino
Secundário”?
Alexandra: When we
are in the 7 th ,8 th or 9 th form we
don’t care about marks! We
just think of finishing the day
and go home to play computer
and get out with friends. Then
when we begin the 10 th form
you start thinking about your
future, your job… You need to
get good marks! It’s a big
difference!
Inês Mariana: It´s hard
to explain, because everything
has changed! Last year I didn’t
care about my marks. I
thought they were not
important, but now it’s the
most important thing you
have to worry about. Now we
study every day.
Inês Isabel: Well I think
7 th form is really easy if we
compare it to the 10 th form. In
the 10 th form we need to have
more responsibility and study
harder to have good marks.
However we have new
subjects that may become
your favourite.
André: I can say that I
felt a lot of differences. The
XVIII­XIX century Nobleness.
12:30 p.m. ­ time to have
lunch. Everyone enjoyed the
meal at the Arrábida Shopping
Center.
In the afternoon we visi­
ted “Sea­life” which is a fantas­
tic and colourful exhibition.
There we could see world wide
fishes.
It was really cool and
everybody liked it. We would
definitely repeat the experien­
feels lost with no
direction.
My faith is shaken…
But I gotta keep on
trying,
gotta keep me head
held high!
The struggles I’m
facing,
the chances I’m taking
they might knock me

INTERVIEW WITH STUDENTS OF THE 10TH FORM
teachers are more dedicated
and they don’t give up on their
students. It’s a level up, so it’s
m o r e d i f f i c u l t , m o r e
demanding and tiresome.
Andrea: Yes, I agree.
Teachers really try hard to
make us increase our
knowledge.
Carlos: Well in 10 th
grade the classes are smaller.
The teachers are very
demanding and you have to
study much more
Emanuel: In spite of
that I love studying in this
school. It’s a good school, nice
staff, good teachers. We can
make lots of friends. It’s a very
good school.
Looking back, is there
anything you regret you
didn’t do? Talk about the
difficulties you felt.
Ana Sofia: I think if I had
paid more attention in my old
classes, I would remember
more things that I need now
and it would be easier for me
now
Alexandra: I would
change many things­ my
attitude, the methods of
studying, my ideas…
What’s your favourite
class?
Alexandra: Now I love
Literature. Analysing poems or
ce.
While we’re waiting for
the other groups to finish visiting
“Sea­life”, we walked to
the nearest beach, where we
had lots of fun, and where we
took a lot of photos.

these will be the
moments that I’ll remember
most
and just gotta keep on
going!
I got to be strong, just
keep pushing ,
cause: there’s always
gonna be another mountain,
texts is awesome!
Carlos: I would have
paid more attention in the
classroom, I would have
studied more, I would have
had better marks and I would
have got a scholarship. This
way I could have helped my
parents.
Inês Mariana: Now I
love Philosophy. In this class I
can express my feelings, throw
out opinions. It makes me
think about things I had never
thought before and then I go
on thinking over the topics we
discussed in the class. I love it!
Oh! Besides this, I must say
that Philosophy lessons are the
funniest classes I have…
Inês Isabel: I have two
favourite classes: sports and
English. Sports is great fun.
English is everywhere so you
must learn it.
Andrea: Yes! English is
my favourite too. It’s easy for
me. It’s great to know a foreign
language but my problem is
that I don’t follow the rules,
which is no really good if you
want to have some accuracy.
Carlos: I love Biology.
We discover many things and
the classes are great fun.
What do you think of
th e o th er s tud e n ts’
attitudes?
Emanuel: Well I know all
I’m always gonna want
to make it move,
always gonna be an
uphill battle,
that I may loose or win,
it ain’t about how fast I
get there,
ain’t about what’s
waiting on the other side,
it’s the climb that is
important
the students in my class. As
friends they are really cool but
as students… Not all students
should be in this class. They
have talent but for this kind of
classes… Unfortunately those
have bad marks.
Andrea: Some students
are a bit sloppy, just like me.
We only open our eyes when
something bad happens to us
and sometimes we don’t open
them at all.
Alexandra: I think that
most of my classmates still
believe that life is parties and
games. However there are
others who are very
responsible and are worried
about their future.
Which advice would
you give to students of the
7 th , 8 th or 9 th grade?
Inês Mariana: Don’t
give up! We only have one
opportunity to do the right
things, so don’t waste it. Do
the things by yourself and
you’ll see that you’ll be glad to
see the results. Then you’ll
know that this success is your
own and you can believe you
are the best
André: Follow your
dreams. Don’t just take the
advice of anyone at home. Do
what your heart tells you to.
But remember­ you will only
have a good future if you are a
hard worker and if you have

without a cause.

knowledge. So, start now, work
and have a good future!
Inês Isabel: Another
thing I can say is: Study and
enjoy the time with your
friends too. It´s important too.
Daniel: I’m going to
give you, guys, a little “heads
up” for when you get to the
10 th form. Well, depending on
the subjects you pick, you have
to STUDY and HARD. It’s kind
of a whole new world…
Maybe this will decide your
future… It’s a challenging
grade but with the right
amount of study and high self­
esteem, maybe it could be the
best grade of your life. Just be
a good student, try not to skip
classes even it sometimes the
teachers seem a little boring
and you don’t feel like going or
it gets on your nerves… This is
my advice! Behave !...
