Como todo e qualquer material utilizado na<br />

Odontologia atual, os pinos <strong>de</strong> fibras <strong>de</strong> vidro possuem<br />

vantagens e <strong>de</strong>svantagens, po<strong>de</strong>ndo ser excelentes<br />

auxiliares na restauração <strong>de</strong> <strong>de</strong>ntes tratados<br />

endodonticamente e danificados estruturalmente,<br />

garantindo certa previsibilida<strong>de</strong>, <strong>de</strong>s<strong>de</strong> que sua indicação<br />

e técnica <strong>de</strong> utilização sejam criteriosas.<br />

Abstract<br />

Fiberglass posts have increasingly been used for the<br />

restoration of endodontically treated teeth. Their<br />

greatest advantages are elasticity module close to<br />

that of <strong>de</strong>ntin, absence of corrosion, less execution<br />

time and lower cost as compared to indirect cores,<br />

favorable adhesivity and esthetics. On the other<br />

hand, since they are a relatively new material for<br />

Dentistry, more evaluation time is necessary as<br />

the indications and the utilization technique are<br />

extremely sensible. The purpose of this article<br />

is to discuss some principles of fiberglass post<br />

utilization concerning its longevity.<br />
