Ana Cristina Mancussi e Faro – USP
She holds bachelor, master, and doctorate degrees in
nursing by the Nursing School of the University of Sao
Paulo. She is a Full Professor at the Medical-Surgical Nursing
Department of the Nursing School of the University
of Sao Paulo. She is involved in teaching and research activities
in the field of rehabilitation, especially for spinal
cord injury, paraplegia and quadriplegia in adult patients.
She heads the research group on rehabilitation, functionality
and health education, besides developing studies
on self care, and realistic simulation labs for nursing skills. Currently, she is the
Head of Department at the Medical-Surgical Nursing Department of the University
of Sao Paulo.

Inclusive education in nursing / health
Lecture’s abstract
Education is a right of everyone, and inclusive education is also a right to everyone
who has different needs in order to be admitted, to attend or to conclude his/
her education. Persons might born or acquire an impairment which results in different
disabilities. Thus, inclusion for institutional education needs to be equally
enabled by social mechanisms to everyone. Therefore, training and political actions
are needed in order to build teachers capacity, as well as to create public
policies to inform and raise population’s awareness. It is necessary to monitor
and support both who teaches and who learns, when transforming and proposing
teaching models, especially those who are taken as valid and immutable.
