ABSTRACTObjective: To observe the relevance of the Brazilian Army Medical Expertise Systemin the control of military activities, emphasizing the theme in the training of the militaryphysician. Methods: It was performed a qualitative literature review, using sourceslike "Internet”, books, previous works and related legislation. Development: Amedical expertise activity is a current concern because of the high numbers ofaccidents and illnesses related to work and its judicial labor and social securityimplications. The performance of military activity requires a healthy condition, and byits nature, involves exposure and risk of physical and psychological damages. Thus,the Brazilian Army Medical Expertise System emerges as an important tool toenhance, optimize and standardize medical expertise activity within the BrazilianArmy. Conclusions: It is evident that the modernization of SIPMED, still underimplementation, has already shown improvements in service, despite the difficultiesof structural and human resources, with important value in the control of militaryactivities. It is vital that the new Army Career Doctors be able to contribute andparticipate in the Brazilian Army Medical Expertise System.Key Words: Brazilian Army Medical Expertise System, SIPMED.
