What do the Student unions
do for you?
The Student unions work to ensure that you get the
very best education. They also offer a wide range
of social activities as well as help and support if you
experience any kind of problem. As a member of a
Student union you show that the opinion of the
students matter and you get excellent opportunities
for influencing your education. You can also get
discounts and more easily participate in the union´s
social life.
To join any of the four Student unions at the
University of Gothenburg is voluntary and you’ll find
more information about every union on their own
homepage.
At Chalmers you have to be a part of the Student
union and all information you need is found on
Chalmers Student Union’s homepage.
Student activities
As a student in Gothenburg you will have no
problem enjoying your spare time. Below you
find some information about what to do when
in Gothenburg.
New in Gothenburg?
We highly recommend you to participate in the
introduction given by the University of Gothenburg
or Chalmers and “Mottagningen”, arranged by the
Student unions. This is a good way to meet new
friends and explore the city. The 12Th of September
Gothenburg city invites you to a big welcome-party
at Trädgår’n. There will be food, music, dancing and

Different associations
In Gothenburg there´s over 150 Student union
associations that offers a wide range of different
activities. If you are a member of a Student union you
can get involved in the associations and if you are not
a member you can almost always take part of what
they do. We have associations for sports, radio,
culture, dancing, parties and much more. Get in
contact with your Student union to learn more.
Pubs and parties
The Student unions often arranges pubs or parties
for you as a student. At Vasagatan 1 you can enjoy
Handelspuben every Wednesday. At Villa Medici you
can enjoy Friday pubs. At Kårkällaren you can enjoy
pub every Wednesday and karaoke every first Thursday
of the month. At Chalmers Student Union House you
can always visit J.A Pripps Pub and Café or enjoy a
real pubcrawl. Konstkåren also arranges pubs but in
a more irregular way. This is just some examples and
hopefully you will find your own favourite.
