ombudsmen
The student and doctoral student ombudsmen at
GUS (University of Gothenburg Student Unions)) and
the student ombudsmen at Chalmers guarantee an
impartial side if you find yourself in the middle of a
conflict between yourself and the University/
Chalmers. The ombudsmen’s main role is to help
students who encounter problems during their
studies.

Economy and insurances
Off course it’s important to have the right insurances
but since it’s not easy to know which ones are the
best to get we have listed it for you below.
student insurance
Students and doctoral students at both Chalmers
and the University of Gothenburg are insured during
school time and the way to/from school. The insurance
covers injuries due to accidents and some cases of
illness due to infections.
If you have study allowances from CSN you have a
special insurance in case of illness. You can read more
about that at www.forsakringskassan.se.
home insurance
In addition to the student insurance you should think
about getting a personal accident insurance (for your
spare time) and a home insurance. Many insurance
companies have student discounts.
Collection of rules
Both Chalmers and the University of Gothenburg
have a collection of rules. The collections state the
rules, rights and responsibilities for the students
and are found at www.chalmers.se respectively
www.gu.se. Ask your student union if you need
help to interpret the rules.
