Zeytin Sanayi Yan Ürünlerinin Hayvan Beslemede Kullanım Olanakları71Karasu olarak bilinen diğer bir yan ürün olan zeytin atıksuyu çevreyi kirletici bir etmen olarak öneminikorumaktadır. Karasu ile yapılan çalışmaların çoğu eskiolmasına rağmen elde edilen sonuçlarküçümsenmeyecek düzeydedir. Karasuyun hayvanyemlerinde kullanılabilmesi ile ilgili yeni çalışmalarınyapılması, bu atıktan kaynaklı çevre kirliliğininazaltılmasında etkili bir alternatif sunabilir.Yapılan çalışmaların çoğunda zeytin yan ürünlerininkullanılması hayvanların performansında önemli birartışa yol açmadığı fakat olumsuz bir etki deyaratmadığı dikkati çekmektedir. Sonuç olarak bu yanürünlerin uygun saplementlerle desteklenerek hayvanbeslemede kullanılması, doğal mera bakımından kısıtlıolan yarı kurak Akdeniz ülkeleri için önemli veekonomik bir kaynak olabilir.KaynaklarAbo-Omar, J.
