The modified pumices are in the form of %5pHEMA-pumice, %15 pHEMA-pumice, %50 pHEMA-pumice, Na-pumice, Capumice.These adsorbents were filled to columns for adsorption hexavalent chromium ionsfrom aquous solutions. Prepared certain concentrations of hexavalent chromiumsolutions were passed through columns as one by one.All of the sample solutions including hexavalent chromium ions were determined byAAS instrument. Adsorption of hexavalent chromium ions on solid-phase columnswere investigated by considering the effects of various parameters likeconcentrations of sample solutions, sample volume, pH and flow rate of samplesolutions. According to the measurements of parameters, results of experimentalswere indicated on diagrams.The isoterms of equilibrium were drawn by using Freundlich and Langmuir sorptionisoterms and the sorption parameters (K f , n, Q, b) were calculated from theisotherms.Hexavalent chromium ions on the columns including the sorbents were recoveried bysolid phase extraction. 1 M HNO 3 in aceton was used as eluent solution and 10 mLof the eluent solution was prefered for extraction.Key Words: Hexavalent Chromium, Adsorption, Pumice, HEMA, Solid PhaseExtraction.2007, 78 pagesv
