SOCAR & TURCAS ortakl›¤›n›n yaratt›¤› sinerji sayesinde
hedeflerine daha güçlü ad›mlarla ilerlemektedir.
2009 y›l›na küresel ekonomik krizin gölgesinde bafllayan
petrokimya sektöründe, ham petrol fiyatlar›nda sert düflüfller
ve talepte büyük ölçüde daralmalar yaflanm›flt›r. Bu nedenle
dünyadaki petrokimya üreticileri bir dizi yeniden yap›lanma
önlemleri almak zorunda kalm›flt›r. Rekabet gücünü kaybeden
tesisler kapanm›fl ve kapasite kullan›m oranlar› %60'lar
düzeyine düflmüfltür. Devam eden yat›r›mlar durdurularak,
yeni projeler ertelenmifltir.
varan daralma yaflanm›flt›r. Mart 2009'dan itibaren mevcut
stoklar›n bitmesi ve ertelenmifl taleplerin ortaya ç›kmas›yla
nispi bir canlanma bafllam›flt›r. PETK‹M, 2009 y›l›nda
olan yak›nl›¤›m›z›n sa¤lad›¤› avantajlar›n yan› s›ra PETK‹M'in
Distinguished Shareholders and
Business Partners,
PETK‹M has initiated a process of radical change and
transformation over the past several years, and has taken
enormous steps toward reaching its goals following the
completion of the all-important privatization process in 2008,
enjoying important synergies as a result of its new majority
shareholders, the SOCAR & TURCAS partnership.
In 2009, a year that began under the shadow of a global economic
crisis, the petrochemical sector saw serious declines in the price
of petroleum and other key raw materials, but this was counterbalanced
by a significant contraction of demand. Due to this situation,
petrochemical producers around the world were forced to implement
a number of precautionary restructuring measures. Uncompetitive
facilities were shutdown and capacity utilization fell to around
60 percent. Ongoing investments were frozen and new projects
were postponed. Sales and mergers in the sector accelerated and
international trade diminished. In a longer-term perspective, it is
likely to take another three to four years for the petrochemical
sector to recover to 2007, pre-crisis levels.
In parallel with global developments, Turkey entered 2009 with
a marked drop in demand, a rising exchange rate, high-cost
raw materials and bottlenecks in inventories of finished goods,
and the petrochemicals sector in particular experienced
contraction of 30 percent. Starting in March of 2009, a limited
recovery in demand was experienced as existing stocks ran
out and were replaced, and as postponed orders were finally
placed. PETK‹M, with 91 percent capacity utilization in 2009,
stood by its business partners throughout the global crisis, and
demonstrated once more the importance of local production.
In addition to the advantages the petrochemicals industry in
Turkey enjoys as a result of the continuous growth in domestic
demand in, our country's geographical location and our proximity
