• While the total share of value added in the Slovak economy is about 38 %, the<br />
share of the IT in total value added is roughly 48 %. Moreover, the values of the<br />
IT multiplier for production (5.1) and for value added (2.0) clearly indicate the<br />
impact of an increase in the demand for the IT sector on the Slovak economy.<br />
• The fi<strong>na</strong>ncial position of most IT firms is also improving. The fi<strong>na</strong>ncial position<br />
of most IT firms is characterized by an increase in liquidity, a decrease in the<br />
length of repayment of accounts receivable and accounts payable, a decline in<br />
indebtedness and an increase in profitability. In cont<strong>rast</strong>, there is a stag<strong>na</strong>tion or<br />
margi<strong>na</strong>l decline in the share of value added in revenues.<br />
4. The effects of Commercial Software Model of Microsoft Slovakia on<br />
the Slovak economy<br />
Microsoft Enterprise as one of the most significant bearer of the expansion of<br />
information technology contributes to the Slovak economy via several channels.<br />
Obviously, these effects can only be roughly estimated and it is not possible to<br />
measure all the effects generated by Microsoft Enterprise.<br />
4.1 The contribution of Microsoft Slovakia to the Slovak IT sector<br />
• The IT sector grows with the increase in the number of consumers and firms in<br />
offering and using electronic commerce (e-commerce), education through the<br />
internet (e-learning), and the government’s program in offering its services to the<br />
wider public via the internet (e-government).<br />
• Microsoft Enterprise contributes to a great extent to the development of the IT<br />
sector through its program of Commercial Software Model, which fulfils the<br />
following functions: great assistance to the community of software developers;<br />
helping cooperation and interoperability and contribution to the innovation<br />
processes; encouraging profitable business; and investment into science and<br />
development. Moreover, through its license model, Microsoft Enterprise offers<br />
