The thief left behind a black/grey Trek 7000 bicycle. WILMETTE Aug. 12 • A resident in the 3100 block of Old Glenview Road reported that during the overnight hours of Aug. 11 an unknown offender(s) stole her black 2015 Lexus LX350 from her driveway. The vehicle had been left in the driveway, unlocked with the key in the cup holder. • A resident in the 200 block of Westmoreland Drive told police that at approximately 2:14 a.m. Aug. 11 an unknown black male and female entered two of his unlocked vehicles parked in his driveway. Phone chargers and loose change were taken. Shooting From Page 3 Office, the teens were charged due to them being in commission of a forcible felony when the 14-year-old victim was Aug. 11 • Samuel S. Coburn, 35, of Chicago, was arrested following a traffic stop at 2:20 a.m. Aug. 11 in the 3200 block of Lake Avenue. He was allegedly found to be intoxicated and in possession of a controlled substance. Coburn was taken into custody for driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance. • A victim reported to police that her blue and white Schwinn Signature Fremont Hybrid Bicycle was stolen between Aug. 8 and Aug. 10 in the 1100 block of Wilmette Avenue. The bicycle had been locked to a tree. Aug. 10 • Daniel P. Burns, 51, of Cary, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after being stopped for a minor traffic violation at 8:32 p.m. Aug. 9 in the 3100 block of Big Tree Lane. Burns allegedly had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage, admitted to drinking, and failed shot and subsequently died as a result of being shot during the commission of a burglary. All of the individuals appeared in bond court Aug. 13 and bail was set at $1 million for each of the defendants. They are all field sobriety tests. He was arrested for DUI and released with an I-bond. • An employee at Jewel, 411 Green Bay Road, observed a white male subject wearing black pants, a peach shirt and carrying a black reusable bag remove merchandise from the shelf at 6:04 p.m. Aug. 9. He then allegedly placed them into the bag, and exit the store without paying for them. He was last seen going east on Linden Avenue. KENILWORTH • There were no reports for the week of Aug. 9-16. As reported by The Beacon, Dinah Larson, who was 27 at the time of the incident, used a knife to stab caption caption caption caption CREDIT Posted to WilmetteBeaconDaily.com 8 days ago Agency: Risk of human infection from West Nile Virus increasing Staff Report The North Shore Mosquito Abatement District is warning area residents to take precautions against the West Nile Virus with a recent uptick in infection cases being reported. From 132 batches tested during the week of Aug. 3-9, 41 came back as positive for the virus. In Wilmette, 5 of 11 batches tested positive. At the same time in Kenilworth, all 6 tested batches came back negative. For the season, dating back to May, 11 of 104 batches have tested positive in Wilmette. In Kenilworth, 5 of 63 batches have tested positive. According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, one resident in Cook County had tested her 60-year-old mother on Jan. 18, 2018, in the 1900 block of Highland Avenue. Both women lived at the residence at the time. She was charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery on a person over the age of 60 and aggravated domestic battery. The mother was taken to the hospital with non-lifethreatening injuries. According to court documents from July 24, Larson, now 29, has been committed into the custody of the Department of Human Services “for an evaluation as to whether she is in need of mental health services.” It later states that DHS will provide to the court a written evaluation as to whether Larson is in need of mental health services no later than Sept. 4. Larson, who graduated from New Trier High School, has been held in Cook County Jail since the incident. positive for the West Nile Virus at the time of the most recent NSMAD report.
