HAYDN STAPLES APOPIANO SCHOLARSHIPPROGRAMMEThe Haydn Staples APO Piano ScholarshipProgramme is the most comprehensive trainingprogramme for emerging pianists in NewZealand. Administered by the APO, it is runin partnership with the Auckland UniversitySchool of Music and funded by SEF. Thisinnovative programme assists talented youngpianists to develop a diverse portfolio of skillsto complement their advanced solo studies,equipping them with invaluable experiencesand training opportunities to improve theirmusicianship and employability.At the end of their first year of study, up tothree piano students are selected to enter theprogramme, which runs in conjunction with theremainder of their undergraduate studies (andwith an opportunity to be selected for a furtherHonours year).These selected scholars are able to exploreevery aspect of piano performance, includingan opportunity for the top Honours student toperform as a soloist with the APO.Today’s talent,tomorrow’s stars.‘The School of Music at the University of Auckland is delightedto partner in this unique initiative with Staples EducationFoundation (SEF) and the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, and isgrateful for the very generous financial support of Haydn Staples.’Associate Prof Rae de Lisle and Senior Lecturer Stephen de Pledge,School of Music, University of AucklandA key component of the programme is‘giving back’.
