THE SALOU
VIEWPOINTS ROUTE
The Salou Viewpoints Route is a nature
tourism proposal that the Patronat
Municipal de Turisme has developed
so that residents and visitors can get to
know the coastline of the municipality,
through various observation points,
distributed along the Coastal Path with
views of the sea and surrounded by the
typical Mediterranean landscape.
Salou has about forty viewpoints with
views of the very beautiful and unique
coastal landscape. Some of these
viewpoints form part of the town’s 25
beaches and coves and others are in
the eight parks along the Coastal Path,
a 9-kilometre path that runs along the
coast of Salou and which starts at the
gorge of Sant Pere on the western edge of
the municipal area giving on to Cambrils,
and stretches to the Racó de Salou, at the
end of the eastern boundary.
The Coastal Path of Salou is a
spectacular project, an example of
sustainability, built in several phases
in the heart of the Costa Daurada. It
is also a paradise for lovers of healthy
living and sports such as trekking or
running.
Today, the footpaths have become a
very attractive tourist resource for
visitors and tourists, allowing them
to view the coastal landscape and to
get to know the native vegetation and
fauna. The discovery of the shapes of
the coastline as it meets the sea, with
the fossilised dunes and beaches, the
quiet walks, the cliffs and the elevated
walkways all make the paths unique to
the public sensitive to the quality of the
environment and the preservation of
the landscape.
At its highest point, the Coastal Path of
Salou rises up to 77 metres above sea
level, offering magnificent views.
The first thing we find is the La Bocana
viewpoint, which forms part of the
Marina and is like a window that
overlooks Ponent beach.
Next we find the viewpoint of the Antic
Moll, or Old Pier, where the monument
to the Fisherman stands. This area
offers a spectacular view of Levante
beach and in the background, the site
of the launching point for the ships of
King Jaume I.
Els Pilons viewpoint is next, crowned
by a spectacular sculpture by Antoni
Rosselló Til, known as “La Vela”, or The
Sail. This place offers fantastic sunsets
framed by the busy seafront.
Thanks to the Torre Nova viewpoint,
we can enjoy unique 180+º views of
Llevant beach and Capellans.
The Capellans viewpoint reveals one
of the most spectacular corners of
the capital of the Costa Daurada, from
the Po-Roig point to the Llatzaret.
Extraordinary panoramic views can be
seen from the Po-Roig viewpoint.
At the viewpoint of Llarga beach there
is Mediterranean forest, beach and
sea, all in one place. This beach has 2
