3D Theatre ANA 3D

Can 3D film offer an alternative to live theatre? Written by Scottish
writer Clare Duffy and Pierre Yves Lemieux from Québec, ANA
explores one woman’s story through time and across the globe – a
woman who is cursed, who splits at every crossroads, multiplying to
escape her own terror to be free. Serge Denoncourt, one of Canada’s
leading directors with over 80 productions to his credit including work
with Cirque du Soleil, directs a cast of Scottish and Québécois actors
in this unique production.
This event is the first time a Scottish theatre production has been
filmed in 3D and shown in a cinema. This is a chance to be part
of theatre and film history and to let us know what you think. Stellar
Quines worked with Edinburgh Napier University’s Institute for Creative
Industries on this film which was made by Freakworks, a Scottish film,
TV and multi media company who specialise in 3D. DCA have
supported this project by making the 3D digital print being screened
today.

9 Intervals

9 Intervals is a new multi-episode digital film work designed
specifically for the cinema auditorium by Dublin-based contemporary
artist Aurelien Froment. The work takes the seated position of the
cinema viewer as its starting point, meditating upon the relationship
between design and body, viewer and image. Nine short episodes
have been shown before a selected feature film each Monday for the
past nine weeks, intervening in the conventional role played by the
cinema spectator to ask “are you sitting comfortably?” This omnibus
edition will give our audience a chance to catch up and experience
the series as a whole.
