Editorial
Stronger in Europe
and worldwide
The outlook is clearly optimistic. The European and
Western markets have started moving again since the
beginning of the 1st Quarter of 2011. The German
and French markets are still of great importance seeing
as together they account for over a third of our
turnover. Activities in Russia have also resumed and
some new booming markets, such as Turkey, are now
opening up for us. And what's more, our activities
outside Europe are also growing in importance: mainly
in South America - and particularly in Brazil -, in India
and even in Australia.
The outlook is very positive, with an increase in
turnover estimated at 50% up on 2010 with 90% of our
production still earmarked for export. This increase in
sales has set in motion all our teams. Teams which,
during the crisis, were able to benefit from a training
and qualification program which is now bearing fruit.
With a certain amount of caution towards this
optimism, we are continuing our investment policy in
new production tools (the stocking and logistics centre
for example) so that we can always be one step ahead
with the latest technology and despite the increase in
price of raw materials, still be able to offer high quality
products at interesting prices.
POWERMAX
Put to the test
Star at Bauma 2010, the modular range of the Powermax equipped with
motorised axles is today living its life in companies and providing them
with precious services. But what services exactly?
As a reminder, the Powermax is a standard
modular vehicle equipped - and this is where the
difference lies - with motorized and self-breaking
axles. Rainer Noe, responsible for Modular
Heavy Duty Systems, underlines this : « There are
three available applications. The first is the
'Trailer' mode.
In this instance, the motor can be disengaged and
the module can freewheel at 80 km/h, something
that is not possible to do with standard selfpropelled
trailers. Seeing as the motorised axles
are also equipped with drum breaks, this module
can also be used on public roads. The 2nd mode
is the 'Assist' mode. A line of motorised axles
can replace a tractor's motor axle and provide
the same traction force. Finally, in the 'SPMT'
mode, the trailer can work without a tractor, for
example in places where there is not much space
or in order to cross a bridge as a way of reducing
the total weight. »
Faster return on investment
For the client, this modular range clearly presents
a number of significant advantages, as Rainer
Noe explains: « As we have just seen, a single
module is capable of providing three kinds of
operation. A standard self-propelled vehicle can
only be used in 'SPMT' mode. It cannot work at
high speed, nor is it authorised to be used on the
public road because it is not equipped with breaks
on the motorised axles. This is what makes it unfit
At the beginning of the year, STDR-TEDL
also carried out a transport for the EDF
electrical company in France. It involved
the replacement of two heat exchangers in
a nuclear power plant in St.Alban in the
south of France. The pieces totalled
18,400 mm in length with a diameter of
3,700 mm. The total weight was 185 tons.
For the Powermax, which was coupled to
a 6 axle module, this action represented a
true challenge, particularly given the 6.5%
slope which had to be negotiated.
The technicians of the logistics department
of the EDF company oversaw the
manoeuvres and were truly thrilled with
the Powermax's performance. And the
people from STDR-TEDL also expressed
their extreme satisfaction in managing to
carry out this transport.
PRODUCT TO THE MAX
to be used in 'Assist' mode. Finally, and this is a
considerable advantage, the investment in a
Faymonville Powermax of 'APMC' type is likely
to be recovered much sooner than with a standard
self-propelled vehicle. »
These advantages which also include the possibility
of exploiting the three modes with just one
module are currently benefiting the companies
Courcelle and STDR-TEDL, leading French
players in the specialist haulage field.
COURCELLE
At the end of 2010, Courcelle undertook
a transport which meant that its S-modules
and the Powermax had to come into action.
It involved the haulage of a 130 ton transformer
from the Port of Sète (département 34) to
Narbonne (département 11) and more
specifically to the site of EDF (Electricité de
France) in Livière. The transformer was
8.2 meters long, 3.2 meters wide and
3.9 meters high.
Due to the height and the load limit per axle
of around 13 tons per line, it was necessary
to cover the distance of 130 km between
Sète and Narbonne with a combination of
modules and lowbeds. A 3 axle Powermax
was brought into action as a self-propelled
module in combination with a 4 axle module
in order to carry the transformer right to the
electrical site.
MULTIMAX WITH
8 SWING AXLES
Max Goll once again
chooses Faymonville
Faymonville, via the German company ES-GE in Essen, has just delivered
a new stepframe Multimax with swing axles to the German company
Max Goll in Düsseldorf. It has completed a well stocked park of vehicles
provided by Faymonville.
The new Multimax with swing axles of the
Max Goll company, a specialist haulage firm for
50 years, is equipped with 17.5'' swing axles and
245/70 R17.5 tyres, for an axle load of 12 tons.
It stands out for its ability to extend its loading
platform by more than 7 metres right behind the
2 front axles, enabling the best possible distribution
of the load. Among its main features
there is also the counter-breaking system on the
2 front axles. For this reason, the hydraulic gooseneck
has been totally rethought and equipped
with a double steering circuit. Consequently,
the 2 front axles are independent of the others.
Furthermore, a hydraulic differential located
in the gooseneck enables two
different cradle loads.
PRODUCT TO THE MAX
Thanks to its pivoting swing axles, the vehicle
can boast a 60° steering angle. The 600 mm
(-200/ +400 mm) hydraulic suspension clearance
and the wheelbase of 1,510 mm are further
features that make this multipurpose semi-trailer
very easy to handle. The 2 front axle lines can be
hydraulically linked to the gooseneck cylinders in
order to always have the necessary power at
its disposal in all situations.
Among the great advantages of this vehicle,
a mention must go to the payload which is
comparable - or even greater - than that of a
standard 9 or 10 axle stepframe. A fact that in
Germany makes it much easier to obtain
special authorisations.
TOWERMAX
For the
large calibres
Wind towers are getting bigger and bigger. To
transport them, the appropriately named Towermax
offers many different solutions that can perfectly
house towers up to 4.5 metres in diameter.
To move wind towers up to 4.5 metres in diameter, the haulage
specialist has many options to choose from at Faymonville. Resorting
to adapters is just one of them. The towers are then fixed at the front
and back to these adapters. Transportation using an extra-lowbed
trailer of the series Variomax is another. These two first solutions often
lead to the creation of fairly long combinations seeing as one has to
add the length of the gooseneck, the tower and the rear axles. The
3rd option - which solves this particular drawback - is to fall back on
the new Towermax. Arnold Luxen, Sales Manager : « The specific
advantage of this solution, is that it provides the tower with support at
715 mm of height which weighs entirely on the rear axles. The length
is thus reduced by 10 to 15 metres compared to other solutions and
for the same type of tower. Furthermore, one can take advantage
of the load on the rear axles to reduce the number of front axles.
The total weight is also lower - as much as 6 tons of tare weight less
- and the vehicle is also cheaper than the other two solutions. »
So why didn't we think of it sooner, you'll be wondering?
Arnold Luxen : « Because this type of vehicle requires curved axles,
a technology that has only been developed recently. » Everything
makes sense.
VARIOMAX SPLIT BOGIE
Many semi-trailers
in one
The Variomax Split Bogie was born out of the idea, voiced
by a client who was looking to increase his haulage
capacity and of increasing the possibilities of the
Variomax. Faymonville has therefore added a version of
the Variomax with detachable module.
The Variomax is often assembled in a configuration that features an
intermediate 2 or 3 swing axle dolly in combination with a 4, 5 or 6 rear
bogie. But a Vario with 6 rear axle lines cannot be used in a
0+6 configuration due to the load distribution. The solution : a Vario with
a 4+2 Split Bogie at the rear. Arnold Luxen, Sales Manager explains :
« The Split Bogie enables different transport combinations requiring
a minimal amount of adjustment. In a 2+5(3+2) Variomax configuration
for example, the intermediate 2 axle dolly at the front and the
2 axle module at the rear can be removed when driving without load thus
gaining approximately 6 metres in length. For a rear axle 2+2 configuration
and a 2 axle dolly at the front you can reduce the total length of the
train for the return without load ot with light loads. All these options
increase the trailer’s field of application. In some way you can say that
with a Variomax Split Bogie, the haulage specialist owns many semitrailers
in one. It's also worth underlining that the coupling and uncoupling
of the rear module is very simple and only takes a few minutes. »
A simple solution that can be very lucrative.
SERT
Certified
interoperability
At the end of June, the first SERT document
(Special European Registration Trailer) for
mixed modular combinations was issued
to Faymonville by the RDW (Rijksdienst
voor Wegverkeer) in the Netherlands.
In order to clearly define the SERT awarding process
for mixed modular combinations, the RDW has also
significantly adjusted the regulations that are now
in force.
This information was officially communicated during
the last annual meeting of ESTA (European
Association of abnormal road transport and mobile
cranes). The interoperability of Faymonville modules
with those of other manufacturers is therefore certified
in the Netherlands.
Alain Faymonville (4th on the left)
is holding in his hand the first
SERT document for mixed module
combinations issued by the RDW.
G-MODULE
Two new set ups
The G-Module range has added two new set ups. After the UT and the SL, which
were presented in our previous editions of Go to the Max, it now offers a heavy
duty ST version and its little sister, the MT version.
As a reminder, the G-Module SL, compared to
the UT version, can carry a greater load per axle.
« The G-Module SL is primarily designed to be sold
on markets outside Europe, for major exports »,
we are told by Rainer Noe, responsible for the
Modular Heavy Duty Systems. « The G-Module
UT is mainly designed for a European client base
that need a lightweight modular system – 2.8 tons
loads for each axle line – for a very low loading
height, between 770 and 1,370 mm. »
ST and MT go one step further
Two new versions are now available. R. Noe :
« The G-ST is the ‘heavy weight modular system’
for the European market. It can be used on public
roads, but it is mainly used for inter-factory
haulage. It is comparable to the G-Module SL but
also to the S-ST. »
In order to provide users with a lighter version yet
completely compatible with the G-ST, Faymonville
have developed the G-MT. R. Noe : « The G-MT is
lighter by about 700 kg per axle line compared to
the G-ST, while the load per axle for this version
drops to 25 tons per axle line compared to
the 36 tons for the ST. The MT is designed
for clients who already own a heavy weight
modular system of the G-ST type but are looking
for a lighter module without jeopardizing chassis
sturdiness. »
As for the entire S-Module series, the accessories
such as goosenecks, drawbars, lowbeds, turning
tables, etc., are all available. The G-Module
is also perfectly suited for use in 3 or 4 files.
On the technical specification, we note that
Faymonville offers its G-Module range with swing
axles mounted on pivots, unlike certain modules
that exist on the market, where the axles are assembled
on ball bearings.
The reason for maintaining the same kind of
axle for all module series lies mainly in the optimization
of the product and the production
process. After all, the pivot axles offer a greater
steering angle and a lower loading height
compared to axles mounted on ball bearings.
And the demand is there: 36 G-UT axle lines
with gooseneck and vessel bridge for the
German market, 12 G-MT axle lines with
gooseneck for a Belgian client and 20 G-ST axle
FLOATMAX INTERMODAL MEGAMAX
It goes everywhere
Since 2010 Faymonville has been offering the Floatmax Intermodal, for the
transport of glass. A semi-trailer designed for combined rail-road transportation.
The great trump card of the Floatmax Intermodal lies in
the fact that it can be lifted vertically by crane to be
loaded on all latest generation carriages (T5,
T3000 and Twin). Frédéric Küpper, Project Engineer :
“The profile of the Floatmax Intermodal has been adapted
to the size of all the most unfavourable train tunnels,
that is to say the P341 (which also matches the P22).
The trailer is compatible in terms of the 1,130 mm
The Floamax Intermodal is equipped
with claws gripping grooves so that
it can be loaded vertically on transport
carriages using a gantry or hoist.
CARGOMAX WITH TILTING PLATFORM
Tilt the load!
A simple solution has been found to reduce the size of certain loads:
to tilt them. This solution is particularly suited for the transport of large
diameter rings and is based on the 3 axle Cargomax.
The Cargomax now adds a new version equipped
with a hydraulical tilting platform. This platform
enables the size of convoys to be reduced when
carrying bulky loads such as for example the wind
towers slewing rings. Bruno Schür, technical designer
with Faymonville: «These slewing rings
reach diameters of between 3 and 6 metres.
If you carry them flat, you can't go hardly anywhere.
This solution is equally useful with other
kinds of variable geometry loads. And what's
more, this Cargomax is a very low trailer. It is
coupled to a low profile tractor equipped with
low tyres and a coupling height of 950 mm. This
way even the loading height is optimized.»
In order to help the supporting of the load,
Faymonville has included some pockets throughout
the length of the trailer. The load therefore rests on
stakes located where required depending on its
coupling height of the carriages as well as well as a second
maximum tractor coupling height of 1,250 mm.
The design of the Floatmax Intermodal has been
changed just a little compared to the road version in
order to allow for the additional material that had to be
provided for the claws gripping grooves and still not
exceed the 8 ton tare of the basic version. The chassis
construction was in actual fact subjected to a study of
its finished elements which enabled the optimization
of the structure's weight.”
Another advantage of the intermodal version :
in combined transport mode, the total weight of
the road assembly can reach 44 tons on road
between the loading or unloading site and the
transshipment station.
This new Floatmax has already convinced a number
of clients. “Some great names in the glass sector
have already placed major orders. In the glass sector,
rail-road transportation is quite recent and Faymonville
has decided to address this market”, concludes
Frédéric Küpper.
To reduce the size of cumbersome loads,
Faymonville suggests to tilt them.
diameter. The platform can therefore be locked
into different positions between 0° and 45°.
Two German clients already have adopted
this new Faymonville solution.
A French client has received two, but this
time with normal coupling height.
Faymonville presents a new version
of the 2 axle Megamax, particularly
suited for hauling tractors or agricultural
machines.
The 2 axle Megamax has been used as the basis for this
lowbed semi-trailer designed to carry very tall wheeldriven
equipment. The explanations of Arnold Luxen,
Sales Manager: « This version is provided with a
loading platform the sides of which are lower compared
to the central beam in order to achieve a loading height
of 120 mm.» The vehicle can in fact be used to pick
up broken down tractors. Knowing that the regulations
on matters of breakdowns do not necessarily require to
call in a standard tow truck, the Faymonville solution
can turn out to be very useful in this context: Arnold
Luxen : « In fact this semi-trailer is very interesting
and practical for all machinery up to a 30 ton tare.
And what's more it has a reduced tare, is extendible
and highly flexible. This is still a Megamax...
From an economic point of view, you should know that
its running costs are very contained and accessible not
just for specialist haulage firms, but also for breakdown
companies, car fleets and timber companies.»
BRAZILMAX
A cross between
stepframe and modular
Specifically developed for the Brazilian market, the aptly named Brazilmax
combines the features of a Multimax stepframe trailer with those of a modular
one. And the Brazilians are ordering more.
«The Brazilmax is a mix», buts in Paul Hönen,
Sales America & Asia. «It combines the Multimax
configuration, with gooseneck and extendible
base, with the modular steering system. More
specifically, the Brazilmax rests on 6 axle lines
each equipped with 8 tyres and can rely on a
system of steering bars and hydraulic suspension
which are of the sort found on modular vehicles.
The vehicle has been designed to carry major
loads without special authorisation, as P. Hönen
explains: «In Brazil there's no need for any kind
of special authorisation to haul loads with a
6 axle vehicle that do not exceed 25 metres in
length and 3.2 metres in width. The axles - with
TELEMAX AND MULTIMAX
The first Mexican order
The Mexican haulage company Tradelossa has ordered
5 Telemax with 5 axles and triple extendible loading platform
and 2 Multimax with 6 axles. The first to carry wind tower
blades, the second for the tower sections. An additional example
of know-how that is easily exported.
Tradelossa, one of the main Mexican haulage companies, was looking
for a solution to transport wind tower sections. But it had to be a
multi-purpose vehicle equipped with removable axles and which can also
haul concrete beams.
The Faymonville answer : The 5 axle Telemax that can carry up to 70 tons.
Arnold Luxen, Sales Manager, adds a few details : « The 5 axles are not
essential when carrying wind turbine blades. So the 2nd and the 3rd axles
are removed. The trailer is thus lighter and enables transports to be made
to the United States, a country that has fairly strict rules about
axle load. »
The Multimax with 6 curved axles is, for its part, specifically designed
to carry turbine sections which can be as long as 30 metres. Arnold Luxen :
« The trailer displays a very low height at 800 mm and is extendible up
to 26 metres behind the gooseneck. It can clearly be used to carry many
other things. Its very much a multi-purpose vehicle. »
If Tradelossa is Faymonville's first Mexican client, the constructor
is nevertheless very present in South America and particularly in Brazil
which has a very promising market.
The Brazilian company Superpesa
located in Rio de Janeiro has ordered
26 vehicles from Faymonville. They are
particularly keen on the 3 and 4 axle
Telemax for transportation of wind
turbine elements, an activity which is
developing very rapidly in this country.
The semi-trailer bought by this company,
which is one of the most important in the
country in the specialist haulage sector,
can be extended up to 50 metres.
In India
the customers
choose Faymonville
Globe and Nabros, two companies located in Ahmedabad
in the north-west of India, now own a Telemax trailer.
Paul Hönen, head of sales for America and Asia, tells us
more about this purchase : « The type of trailer purchased
by these indian clients is a 3 axle Telemax with a triple
extendible platform. It's a trailer that can be extended up
to 44 metres. They will be used to transport particularly
long pieces such as beams, metal structures and much
more besides.» A solution that has two major advantages.
« The length and the fact that the axles are steered
are the two main trump cards of this kind of trailer.
The steered axles make the vehicle very easy to
operate », Paul Hönen adds.
India is a new market for Faymonville but bearing in mind
its size and its potential for extendible and modular trailers,
the Belgian constructor hope it may become a priority
market for its overseas marketing efforts. After all, at the
beginning of the year, Faymonville was present at the
BC India trade fair in Mumbai.
Faymonville will no doubt make a remarkable debut in this country.
Three different models
for Transport CG (MA)
The Casablanca based company initially chose the TeleZ4LAAAX.
This is a vehicle particularly suited for wind turbine haulage. It needs
to be pointed out that certain Maghreb countries, such as Marocco and
Algeria, are investing heavily in wind power. Bearing in mind
Marocco's geographic position, the Casablanca company also needed
an all-road vehicle. The solution Faymonville suggested in this case was
Multimax Off-Road. A vehicle specifically designed for desert operation.
The last kind of vehicle purchased was a MultiZ5HAU. This member of
the Multimax range is a 5 axle extendible semi-trailer with ramps for the
transportation of machinery. In total 8 units for 3 different models.
TURKEY
Collaboration
Faymonville has decided to appoint a partner in
Turkey, a very dynamic market with serious
potential. The name of the partner is Dorkan
Dis Ticaret.
Serkan Askin, head of the
Dorkan Dis Ticaret company,
now Faymonville's partner in Turkey.
In 2010, Turkey experienced a growth close to 8% ! Turkey is,
among other things, a crossroads for the reconstruction work being
undertaken in Iraq and the major ports in the south of the country
are currently working at full capacity. Turkey also boasts a sizeable
number of wind farms. Faymonville therefore decided, a year
ago, to set up a partnership with the Dorkan Dis Ticaret company
managed by Serkan Askin, a company with long-standing experience
in the maintenance of special and modular semi-trailers. It also
has good contacts with specialist haulage firms.
In a year, something like 50 Faymonville trailers have been sold
there. The Turkish market is particularly fond of the 8 axle Multimax
with a payload of 100 tons. More in general, the Turkish market
seems to favour modular, multi-axle and telescopic models for the
wind energy sector.
Even more
support for
its customers
The financial and economic crisis has left its
mark. After Basel II, here comes Basel III.
Nowadays, investors are encountering greater
and greater difficulty in obtaining financial
backing through the standard bank system.
This state of affairs is particularly true for the haulage sector
which was very hardly hit by the economic crises and is
regularly confronted by new challenges.
What's more, haulage companies are often faced with market
situations which require very fast reaction times and decision
making. Now, this is often not the strong point of one's
banker who mainly concentrates on the figures of the past
rather than on the opportunities provided by future prospects.
On the other hand, their risk analysis is mainly based on a
global risk/guarantees assessment rather than the material
they are financing. Given this situation, the Faymonville
group has taken the decision to provide its customers with international
support through its network, by offering lease or
financing programs that are specifically tailored to its products.
This activity is not a novelty within the Faymonville
group. Its Renting Car - WTS branch which engages in tractor
and semi-trailer rental for standard haulage, currently has
a fleet in rental of approximately 1,400 vehicles. The novelty
lies in the fact that this rental experience is now going to be
exten-ded to specialist haulage and therefore to international
customers. The Faymonville group thus hopes to provide
its clients with even greater support by providing them with
a complete service package revolving around its products, thus
simplifying the decision making process.
STOCKING AND
LOGISTICS CENTRE
Even better performance
On the 11th of January: a fire
burned down a large part of
warehouse at Faymonville
Service. End of summer 2011:
a new stocking warehouse is
already operational, that provides
even better performance.
Instead of complaining about the situation, Faymonville saw this event as an opportunity
to improve its internal logistics and set up a stocking and logistics centre that is now
shared by the Belgian and Luxembourg factories.
The new stocking system is called « Shuttle XP ». This system allows a rationalisation
of stocking space, increases in productivity and a reduction of restocking times.
For small parts, the system is totally automated. For the larger parts, a semiautomated
pallet stocking system has been introduced.
In real terms, the shuttle (they are 6 in total) acts like a lift that offers the product
directly to the operator. Therefore the latter doesn't have to go anywhere. The software
will inform the operator of the number of articles that need to be removed. The Shuttle
also organizes the pick-up sequence in order to reduce the stocking shuttle movements
to the minimum. The advantages: a reduced pick up time, increased space, time
saving, greater protection and safety.
In addition to this new stocking and logistics centre, some new shotblasting and
painting cabins will be installed at the Faymonville Service site.
Metallization carried out
offers clear advantages
The verdict is
At Meier & Sohn GmbH in Biederitz near Magdeburg, a magnificent fleet of
vehicles sits ready for use: around 50 Faymonville trailers are in service,
including Telemax extendible trailers, stepframe trailers, lowbeds and vessel
bridges. The ‘younger’ vehicles in this fleet (amounting to about half of
the total) have metallized surfaces. « Since Faymonville started offering this process,
we have essentially ordered all our trailers to be metallized, » explains CEO and
owner Bernd Meier. « We now have much less corrosion and the paintwork on the
vehicles rarely flakes off if they are bumped or knocked. As such, the durability is
higher and the shock resistance is more effective. We will continue to purchase new
vehicles with refined surfaces. »
Friedrich Buchendorfer, fleet manager at Franz Oberndorfer GmbH & Co.
KG also confirms that paintwork damage is significantly reduced as a result of
metallized surfaces. The company, located in the town of Gunskirchen in Upper
Austria, manufactures concrete components which are then delivered using the
company’s own fleet of vehicles. The fleet consists of 70 tractors and
100 semi-trailers, including Faymonville inloaders and Telemax extendible semitrailers.
The company, which places great importance in the visual appearance
with the major principle of all
Modulmax range products, that is to
« The main advantages of this product
Megamax with two swing axles
for the Faroe Islands (DK)
The Trailerpartner A/S company, which sells Faymonville products in Denmark
has delivered a fairly spectacular Megamax to the Strandfaraship Landsins
company in the Faroe Islands. The Client is mainly involved in the transport
of containers from the port to a threading plant. The main difficulty they face
is having to travel along a tunnel that is only 3.20 metres high. A way had to
be found out to get classic ship containers with a height of 2.70 metres through
the tunnel. With this semi-trailer with two swing axles it was even possible to haul
High Cube containers with a height of 2.90 metres through it. After all,
the trailer is equipped with two Sideloader cranes for side loading so that the
driver can load and unload by himself, without the need for a crane or other lifting machinery. Trailerpartner and Faymonville have
therefore provided the ideal made to measure solution and have even managed to help saving one hundred or so jobs.
In June of last year, with the agreement of the
Kazakhstan government, the haulage of a boat
24 metres long, 5.2 metres wide and 4.2 metres high
with a weight of 48 tons was carried out by the Largus
company. The important thing was to spread the weight
evenly over the entire length of the semi-trailer,
a 2 + 4 Variomax. The total height of the convoy
reached 5.25 metres. Although the hydraulic sus-
The first Flexmax 5 axle self-steering
module built by Faymonville has been in
service with German company Universal
Transport since July 2010. « Using a combination
of a 3 axle tractor, a 3 axle dolly and
a self-steering trailer, we predominantly
pension of the trailer enabled the height to be lowered,
this was not sufficient to pass below the electrified
overhead cables of the St. Petersburg tram. The convoy
tra-velled at night accompanied on the one hand
by an escort provided by the electricity network to
measure the available height and where necessary to
lift the lines, and on the other by the police to ensure
road safety. The most complicated stretch was par-
structures », explains Jörg Müller, manager of
the Taucha branch near Leipzig. « In doing
so, this results in a payload of around
84 tons. Technically, we can carry much
more, but unfortunately we are only allowed
to travel with 10 tons of axle load
in Germany. » Müller attests to the
high maneuverability and reliability of the
Flexmax, which is steered at the first,
second and fifth axles: « The vehicle is used
frequently and works perfectly. »
The last kilometres had to be negotiated travelling
which was made possible thanks to the excellent guidance
of the remote controlled wheels and the skill of
