Message from the Mayor
Surrey is a city of
vibrant Surrey communities is a city of
vibrant communities
As Surrey evolves into British Columbia’s next
metropolitan centre, the City is implementing the
most comprehensive capital projects plan in Surrey’s
history to ensure that our neighbourhoods remain
vibrant and we continue to thrive as an economic
generator for the region.
Our communities are continuing to grow, and as
a result, we need more civic facilities to serve
our citizens and our business community. We are
implementing the Build Surrey program to make
Surrey an even more exciting place to live and to
position the city for growth over the next decade.
The capital projects outlined in this document will
be built over the next six years and include new
recreation opportunities, improved police and fire
coverage, enhanced residential and commercial
development, expanded library and arts services,
and the creation of a thriving downtown core. As we
move our city forward, we will balance growth with
sustainability and continue to improve the quality of
life for people living and working in Surrey. The future
lives here in our city, and the policies and projects we
are creating today will strengthen our city now and in
the future.
