This is TC’s first official staff member interview! For this particular issue, I talked with Jackson,
who happily agreed to be a part of this. Here is his interview:
Avaline: Okay, well, let us start off with who are you on TC and what do you do?
Jackson: Alright. Well, my name is Jackson. And I am a Senior Administrator here at TC. My job
is to watch over our moderators and players and just make sure everyone is following the rules.
Just like all other staff members, I'll help come up with ideas for events and contests, and then
carry out those plans.
Avaline: So you have a rather important job, yes? What do your day-to-day activities involve?
Jackson: Haha, well I guess you could call it important. So, I'll get online and see if there are any
petitions I can help with. That's standard as a staff member. Then, I'll look at the chat, see what
everyone's talking about. Then I'll check my TMs, see if I have any RPs to respond to. Usually I
just repeat the last two steps. If I get bored, I'll look at all the chats, make sure everyone is following
the rules. And then if I get really bored, I'll scan through TMs. Nothing major honestly.
Just a line or two to make sure everyone's following the rules.
Avaline: What's your favorite part about being a staff member?
Jackson: Ooh, I don't know. I guess being a staff member, I have to talk with players more. In the
past when I wasn't a staff member, I used to not talk much in open chat and therefore I wasn't
much of a known player. But now I talk with everyone. I love RPing with players, so hit me up! ;D
Avaline: And what keeps you coming back to TC besides staff duties?
Jackson: The players, honestly. I enjoy keeping tabs on certain characters. I like to read their
character developments, see who they're interacting with, super gossip. All the good stuff. But
that's only if I get the sudden urge to go look. Most days I just like to be in chat conversations.
Or Alec will message me for an RP.
Avaline: I actually enjoy watch the RPs you and Alec do, and I know a lot of people besides me
do as well. I have one last question; do you enjoy being a staff member?
Avaline: I actually enjoy watching the RPs you and Alec do, and I know
a lot of people besides me do as well. I have one last question; do you
enjoy being a staff member?
Jackson: I do. Aside from the days of problematic players, it's a pretty
easy going job. What makes it best is when players and staff members
have good relations, which we all have been trying to do. We've noticed
improvements, but now we know we have to expand. So we're trying to
think of ways to expand. We take player suggestions very seriously and
often argue it for a few days if there are opposing opinions in staff. So,
it can get very interesting.
Avaline: It is as interesting to me as it is to you! Well, I thank you very
much for allowing me to interview you! I lied, I have one more question.
Do you have anything you want to say to the club goers here on TC?
Jackson: Thank you for your continual support as we make changes to
the website. We're making TC a better place for all. So thank you!
And there you have a small insight into a Staff Member’s thoughts.
There will be more interviews in upcoming issues!
The idea of this article is to go
behind the character and talk
about them. We hope it will
help you to get to know them
as a person and a character.
We are calling this, Behind The
Character. Enjoy!
(If you want to be in the next
issue, text Sara.)
Ahriman Nacht was a Senior Mod/Junior Admin In Training on The Complex. He tried
his best being friends with everyone and doing the job to the best of his abilities. We
enjoyed him on staff the best we could for the time he was there. He is friendly most
of the time, can be fun, and willing to try different things. He loves music, reading,
and most of all video games. He has a lot of hobbies that range from playing video
games to listing to music, reading or fishing. His most favorite pastime so far has
been watching Markiplier Let’s Play videos on YouTube. Sometimes he doesn't give
off the best first impression and people taking him for what he is not doesn't sit well
with him. Take your time to get to know him and see him for who and what he is and
not what you have heard about him. People change. Just remember everyone likes
to have a good time and sometimes Jamie’s idea of a good time is to goof off and just
have fun with friends.
Monthly Book/Movie Reviews by ClaryFray
Welcome to the first book review for The Complex Times! Each month you are going to get an
inside look at either a book or movie I have experienced within the last month. Sometimes you
may even get both! Let me know which you prefer and if you have any books or movies coming
up you would like to hear about, I'm always willing to accomodate for you the reader. So for
the first ever book review in the Times I decided to give you a little insight into one of my favorite
reads from February 2015.
The name of the book is Wallbanger and was written by Alice Clayton. This was the first book
by Clayton that I have had the pleasure of reading. This book is classified as an adult romance,
and I found it to be both naughty and comedic. My overall rating of this novel was a 4.5 out of
5 stars. And following is the book description as described on Goodreads,
“The first night after Caroline moves into her fantastic new San Francisco apartment, she realizes
she's gaining an intimate knowledge of her new neighbor's nocturnal adventures. Thanks
to paper-thin walls and the guy's athletic prowess, she can hear not just his bed banging
against the wall but the ecstatic response of what seems (as loud night after loud night goes
by) like an endless parade of women. And since Caroline is currently on a self-imposed dating
hiatus, and her neighbor is clearly lethally attractive to women, she finds her fantasies keep
her awake even longer than the noise. So when the wallbanging threatens to literally bounce
her out of bed, Caroline, clad in sexual frustration and a pink baby-doll nightie, confronts Simon
Parker, her heard-but-never-seen neighbor. The tension between them is as thick as the
walls are thin, and the results just as mixed. Suddenly, Caroline is finding she may have discovered
a whole new definition of neighborly...
In a delicious mix of silly and steamy, Alice Clayton dishes out a hot and hilarious tale of exasperation
at first sight...”
My favorite parts in the book were following Simon and Caroline as they tried to become
friends and eventually more, while having very strong opinions of how they were just wrong for
one another. Yet in the end all things work out for the best. I also enjoyed greatly the scenes
between Caroline and her cat Clive which gave the reader some comedic relief in just the right
spots. I literally laughed out loud three times while reading such scenes.
And so my overall recommendation for this book: It is a definite must read. As are all the other
books within the Cocktail book series of which I myself am currently half way through reading.
And with this I leave you all hopefully with a desire to read this book. And if not well then
maybe better luck next time. As for me I'm now off to read some more Cocktail.
