The Interpreter said he understood what Swedes !<br />
said and they understood what he was saylng. The lanj<br />
guages were not very different* !<br />

When the Interpreter stood down Mr. Justice ixll-j<br />
mer told him there was no reflection upon him perso-j<br />
nally, but at the moment, after the intervention of '<br />
Mr. Adams, his Lordship was afraid the interpreter ;<br />
could not assist the Court. ;<br />
Captain Andren proceeded to give evidence in Eng-;<br />
Mr. Roland Adams then observed that Captain An- \<br />
dren so well dealt with the questions that he should;<br />
be content for him to aet as interpreter when the<br />
other witnesses were to be heard. !<br />

Captain Andren said: - Interpret for the members j<br />
of my crew? I assure you they all understand what I<br />
say. I will do that for you if the Court wishes it. !<br />
The hearing was adjourned to Friday.<br />

When the master of the "Ocean Vesper" gave eviden<br />
ce, Mr. Naisby said the "Ocean Vesper" in the plea- !<br />
dings had been described as a serew steamship with<br />
diesel engines. That might, to s orne people, suggest \<br />
a motor snip« The master spoke of her triple-expan- ;<br />
sion engines, and he (Mr. faisby) asked for leave to;<br />
amend the "Ocean Vesper r s" pleadings, by deleting<br />
the word "diesel" and substituting the words "triple :<br />
expans ion engines".<br />
Mr. Justice Willmer said he . thought the amendment<br />
should be made in the description.<br />
His Lordship asked Captain Walter Sinclair, of<br />
the "Ocean Vesper", what the weather was.<br />
The Master replied that it was thick, and the<br />
"Ocean Vesper" was going slow intending to turn into<br />
the .brunswick Dock on the east side of the river.<br />
This involved crossing the channel, the "Ocean Vesper"<br />
having c orne from the Canada Dock lower down the<br />
river. The weather was foggy and the "Ocean Vesper"<br />
had come up the river at various speeds. She drew<br />
up and waited to enter the Brunswick Dock in the
