Furano
Nestled in the centre of Hokkaido, the picturesque town of Furano
benefits from more than 8 metres of snow each season and more blue
sky fresh powder days than most resorts in Japan.
The mountain is divided into 2 linked zones and the terrain consists of
long groomed trails, challenging steeps and open ungroomed powder
fields. Night skiing and snowboarding is open until 8pm each day and
makes for a spectacular way to spend and evening. From Furano there
are day trips to the powder resorts of Kamui, Tomamu and the live
volcano of Asahidake.
Being a town rather than just a resort Furano offers a great Japanese
experience. After skiing you can explore the downtown area, eat at the
local restaurants and bars, partake in cultural events and turn your ski
holiday into the cultural experience of a lifetime.
Free ski host services are available at Furano. As well as showing you
every aspect of the resort the hosts can give you some local history
lessons and recommend restaurants.
